Flu shot?

The only time I have got the flu shot was when I was pregnant with my first child because my mother in law is a nurse and insisted on it. Other than that I have not had it, I don't like shots that are mandatory and my son didn't get his shot last year either. Just curious about opinions on this? Thanks!

I am getting mine next week. I have a friend who caught swine flu last year while pregnant and she lost the baby due to lack of oxygen. She was also put on a breathing machine and almost died soon after delivering her angel. I'm not trying to scare anyone. Just sharing a story that might help you consider it further. I don't want anyone to have the same thing happen.

This is my 4th child and I never got the flu shot and when they asked me last week I said no...Only my oldest 2 get the flu shot and thats because they have asthma and there Dr. Recommended they get it for that reason and every time they get sick from it but my youngest son is 3 and he has never had the shot and he is fine. unless this baby has asthma he won't be getting the shot either.

Where I live only vulnerable people get a flu shot so I haven't had one either.

Its a flu!

Thanks everyone! Well the time I did get it I felt like crap but know that it wasn't the flu. The reason I wouldn't want to get it isn't because of thinking I'd get the flu, but more because of the horrible side effects that have happened to some people. It scares the crap out of me!

I dont get flu shots pregnant or not. My husband has never had one in his whole life and our son soon to be 3 hasn't had one and won't be getting one again this year.

its all for the baby, to keep everyone around her healthy so they don't get anything fromyou.

id feel absolutely awful and would never forgive myself, if I got sick and gave her the flu because I was stubborn thinking I would get the flu from getting a shot.

I've been going through the same thing. I would never get the shot before.. its a symptom to feel down, like you're getting sick because you're body is fighting off the shot.(So if you actually get the flu, you're body knows what to do right away to.fight it off) it drives me nuts hearing people say you get the flu from it.
to me, whether you believe in it or not. its for the baby, because he or she can't get it for the first 6 months. saying oh I've never gotten one, and my baby has never gotten sick does not mean anything... this time, he or she could. And it could make them deathly ill.
this is my first baby, I got one for her, so is my husband, and we're asking both of our families to.. they can risk a couple days of being sick if that's what they're afraid of, so they can keep the baby safe.
for the record, i got the shot two days ago and feel perfectly fine. i was afraid of getting sick to. My arm is just a little sore.

i hope this helps..

I've never had a flu shot even when I was preggers before and my child has never had one. I really doubt I will get a shot this time. Everyone I've known who has gotten the shot ended up with the flu.
