Food Aversions

I'm currently 12 weeks and 2 days, I can't seem to eat meat especially red meat and pork! Has anyone had this issue? I'm worried that my baby might not be getting enough of the nutrients that it needs at this point!

Aversion to meat I think is the most common pregnancy aversion. I couldn't eat anything but fruit and bread with my son. Just the smell of meat was nauseating. When I was finally able to eat some meat again it was chicken.

I had really bad food aversion during my first trimester. I couldn't eat any meats. Now I'm 32 weeks & it's hitting me hard again like Iim starting my first trimester all over. My baby is PERFECT & I have an ultrasound tomorrow. I hope you feel better & get better!

Thanks! We had our ultrasound on Friday and everything seems to be going fine with the baby, just waiting for the test results now.

With my first child the nausea started at 6 wks and I wasn't able to eat, look at or even think about meat! It's completely normal and your baby actually takes any nutrients you ingest before your own body does so if anything it might deplete your iron levels a bit. As long as you're taking your prenatal vitamins you should both be fine. At 13 wks my nausea subsided and my appetite came back. The only craving I ever had was crumbed lamb cutlets - I could eat them every meal! Maybe that was my body making up for not eating it at the start. Hang in there :)

Thanks! I hope the nausea and whatnot subsides shortly! I swear all I want to eat right now is potatoes!
