Be fine.... its hard and does hurt but by 4-6 weeks youll be a pro!!!
I remember having the same anxiety... but youll be fine. Just make sure you buzz the midwives everytime you need to feed and they will help you latch on. The trick is if it doesnt feel right rake them off right away. The midwives will show you different techniques and if your struggleing at home make sure you utilise the lactation consultants. Youll
If you think about it there used to be a time when formula didn't exist and there really wasn't a whole bunch of options other than breastfeeding. I believe that many women that switch to formula don't necessarily give breastfeeding their all, formula is just a readily available solution that fixes whatever problem they are having immediately. If most women had enough determination and patience I believe more women would be successful at it. But from the second your baby is born you will find that the hospital will try and push the formula issue, they even give you free samples to take home so it becomes so easy to entertain thoughts of formula feeding from day one. Breastfeeding is a process and takes a lot of time to master, the important thing to remember is to not let your emotions and crazy motherly concerns (as well as other people) convince you that formula is a better option. Google how big a newborns stomach is and you will be shocked by how tiny it is, this should help ease your mind if you are concerned about your supply. Dr's may also try and push supplementing on you its not necessary most of the time, your body takes a while to adjust to how much milk your baby will need and is constantly adjusting as baby grows. Stay positive, don't worry your nipples won't hurt forever, just think of the amazing gift you are giving your child. Good luck, you can do it!
Also, remember to wake baby at night for at least the first week every 2 hours to ensure your supply comes in strong. And, start pumping early, I had a hard time getting a lot of milk when pumping but my supply had already come in, this time, I'll start pumping day 2 as much as possible and stock up.. I want and freezer full!!!
It is unlikely you will have any problems.. your hospital will most likely have lactation specialists that will help you after you give birth.. and there are tons you can contact after you leave the hospital.. just remember to drink tons and water and eat a lot of protein and calories and you should very fine.. if it doesn't work immediately, do not give up, there are many things things and people that can help! Buy I doubt you'll have any problems, most babies just naturally latch and do great!
I tried. I was making plenty of milk and my baby did great. But I tore so badly I couldn't sit up and when I could sit uo I couldn't get her to latch right so I stopped. It's a very natural thing tbh amd I really enjoyed it
