How many tries has it taken you to get pregnant? We and my husband are trying to concieve. We tried once before but my body was adjusting from being off bc. Now we've tried this month i thought it was implantation bleeding last night but im pretty sure its a period. Mad me very sad. I want to make sure its normal.

I charted basil temp and vag discharge for a long time (over a year) with both this pregnancy and my first....with my first I got pregnant when I gave up because I got a sinus infection and had to take antibiotics (and couldn't take my temp because I had a fever) and with this one I got tired of taking my temp and got the first response ovulation kit...it worked the first month, but I have to warn you: if you think peeing on those little sticks once a month and not being able to make two lines appear is hard, try doing it every day for like 20 days straight. Talk about adding insult to injury!  But like I said, worked right away!

I got preg first try after coming off birth control both times. But everyone's body is dif. Sometimes it takes a while for ur body to get reg after bc. If you have concerns you could always get your dr to check things out just to make sure there r no problems. It would be better finding out now rather then try for years then find out that you needed to take something to help

First baby I ended up taking amoxicillin while in BC and ended up pregnant- had no idea it takes down on some effect of the BC. This baby wasn't really trying. Was on and off BC. Didn't remember to take daily. Also took morning after pill..

Thank you everyone. This month was a no go. I got a period four days early. We are trying again during my ovulation but im not letting him know so he doesn't feel the pressure. To keep it fun for him as his wish. Ive been taking the prenatal vutamins to help with conceiving and using the my cycle calendar. I think im going to use ovulation test as well. Hopefully it doesn't take too long to get pregnant. I was so disappointed when i started bleeding especially when at first i thought it was IB. I need some baby dust.

This pregnancy took us a year of trying and that was with using an ovulation calculator and ovulation prediction tests. Our first child wasn't plan and our second child took 2 months. If I remember correctly they say a healthy normally ovulating women only has a 20% chance of conception each month.

On average, it is normal to try to conceive for 6-12 months before having success, depending on the individuals trying and their circumstances. I've heard that different doctors and specialists consider treating fertility issues anytime around 6-12 months of trying.

As for my experience with trying to conceive, which has been only once, we had success on our first attempt. I had a copper IUD, which is hormone-free birth control, prior to the conception. I had it removed and predicted my ovulation two days later and we had success. My OB was stunned I was back in her office for my first pre-natal exam only three weeks after removing my IUD and said she's never seen anyone conceive that quickly after being off birth control, but attributed it to being a hormone-free birth control and therefore not affecting my cycle patterns or ovulation.
I have two other children as well, but both of them were unexpected, unplanned pregnancies. So if I HAD been trying to conceive with them, I don't know what type of experience I would have had.
To be honest, I did not expect to get pregnant the first time of trying to conceive and thought it would take us a few times...and when it did happen as quickly as it did, my husband and I were slightly disappointed because we were kind of counting on having a little more time with just the fun and anticipation that comes from trying, lol.
I hope you get a successful conception soon! Don't get too discouraged yet--you still have plenty of time to have fun trying before addressing any potential concerns you may have. :-)

It took my husband and I a while, I got off bc after we were married in april 2009, had a period every other month for almost a yr so no luck then. My husband is in the Army so with a yr long deployment and various trainings I guess there was a lot of hit and misses. Last yr we both got checked out and were given the green light to keep trying and now im 28wks. Over the yrs i went through a lot of negative pregnancy tests and sad times but I never lost faith, just try to relax and enjoy trying, best of luck
