Also each person is different, each baby is different. Not all babies are fully developed at 37 weeks, technology and research makes it possible to better judge this.
Even 10 years ago most babies born at 30 weeks would die, now they can survive

Its not that we have been ruined enough to make drs doubt that 37 weeks is full term. Its just as technology advances so do medical recommendations. There was a time when people were given Thalidomide for nausea and then they learned that it caused terrible deformities. Medicine must change with technology

There is nothing g about prematurity that "ruins" people. My niece was born at 36 weeks and 4.5lbs, she's now a normal 8 year old with no issues. As for being forced home at 4 days early? That I haven't heard of. My Dr told me once I'm 37 weeks they won't stop labor if it happens and they won't induce me unless I go 10 days over my due date.

Pre-maturity is determined by the size of the baby at birth, if it is under 5lbs. Regardless of week. I have no clue why you would think that being born early or small "ruins" a baby. I know many people that were born early, they are in no way "ruined" my cousin was born at 34 weeks, my niece at 36 weeks, nephew at 38 weeks. I have friends that have twins, all born early! There is nothing wrong with any of them!

We can now determine when a pregnancy started far better than they could even 30 years ago. Women didn't used to find out for sure if they were pregnant until 8 or 9 weeks. There were not accurate home tests, the doctors would not do a blood or urine test till women were 4weeks late - because they couldn't get an accurate result until them. So now pregnancy seems longer, there us no vast plot to trick women.
Do your research, educate yourself

Why do you guys believe everything you hear?.  Our parents before us are fine...and so are our previous children.   Makes no sense  for  them to keep switching up rules...and claiming to have new evidence.....on certain things.  We all are normal.  And 37.. Weeks...is still full term to me....heck....36~40.   I hate how this world operates.  Like millions...are ruined...because...they were so call...premature....

I wish I knew... I literally got screwed because of this exact reason.... went into labor 4 days too early and was told I would havecto go 100% natural and they wouldnt give me anything to help along the process... so I went in 2-3 min apart with contractions dialed to 4cm and they sent me home!! They would rather induce me in 4 days than allow me to give birth!! Bastards!

From a midwife point of view- a baby was only ever counted as full term at 37 weeks when they used to count you as being pregnant from the day of conception.  These days the pregnancy count starts from the first day of your last period,  this adds 2 weeks to your pregnancy.  Hence full term is 39 weeks. However the longer the baby is in the better.  40 weeks is considered the right amount of time in most countries.

^^^Yep, exactly. The longer baby is in there, the better. My husband was born 1 month late! kinda his personality to procrastinate, but anyway he also has a genius IQ and is a very healthy person. This is completely anecdotal evidence but it is the reason for the change, healthier babies!

Biological babies should stay in the womb until they are a yearold, I'd you compare how other mammals are at birth. But we can't give birth to babies that.big
