G.D. questions...

Good day moms! I just left my appt and had a one hour glucose test done. I had nothing to eat or drink prior to it and honestly I've done well with my previous pregnancies. Well turns out this morning I left home ticked at my hubby and mom- anyways turns out it was high. 219 to be exact, I have no idea as to why.  Now I have to take a class to monitor my sugar levels.  This is really bugging me because I've never had this and as far as weight I haven't gained any what so ever- and I'm 24 weeks.  Totally not my day!!!
...Anyways,  have any of you experienced this in your pregnancy I would appreciate if you could share.

No problem ^^^ ;)

Anyways now it just has me all kinds of worried and upset. I was totally not expecting this, I'm soo very tempted to demand a second test- but I'm afraid of being wrong and actually am diabetic and looking like a fool.  But it just doesn't make sense I've taken much better care of myself now- with my first two all I drank was soda/pop and ate to my hearts content and didn't suffer anything. This time I mostly drink water or gatorade.  How is this possible?! My hubby thinks it may have something to do with the fact that I was very upset with him and my mom this morning.  Apparently it could have altered- like your blood pressure. Idk what to think anymore...

There's a certain number on the one hour test that if its very high they just consider you have gestational diabetes. If its just a little high they will send u to do a three hour

I failed my 1 hour but passed the 3 hour.
Dr suggested I take carbs out of my diet and I've been doing well.
Good Luck

I'm sorry not the [200] as in 200 lbs- I meant 200 as the level on the sugar monitor.  Thanks I just hope everything turns out much better...

Your probably healthy anyway but you never know sometimes you learn some good things at those types of classes it might be interesting. Goodluck. Maybe I will end up having to take them to I am close to the 200lb mark.

No, I am over weight :/
And No I have not gained any weight- I began weighing 208 dropped to 198 but in the past two months I've stayed my current weight of 203.

I did call Dr's office to ask and it seems that if your over 200 your automatically diabetic and referred to the class. Ugh, this just really really bothers me. I understand it's for my babies health, but what bothers me is it makes me feel like I'm not doing my best at taking care of him. -_-

Have you gained much weight? I know some women who were only given the one hr one and when they failed they had to start taking steps to deal with it just because of weight gain and other health issues. Hopefully it corrects itself. Goodluck

Wow, $30? Yes ask about doing the 3 hour before paying out of pocket for something you might not need. And I've read on here on other posts about how many women fail the one hour but pass the three hour. Apparently it's common.

Hmmm, interestingly this is what I was just reading online. After a failed one hour glucose test Dr's order the 3 hr test. I am definitely looking into this with my Dr. They just so happen to charge $30 for the class, which now has me questioning...

This is my 3rd pregnancy and 3rd girl. But the first time out of 3 I failed the 1 hour. And like you I fasted even though my ob says you can eat protein. I didn't want to chance it. And still failed. So I had to do the 3 hour one and passed:) Why are they not having you do the 3 hour and automatically treating you as though you have gd?
