Gallstones.

Just wondering if anyone else had experienced gallstones when pregnant. Im 37 weeks and have been experiencing severe pain under my right rib for the last 3 weeks. My OB sent me for an abdominal ultrasound yesterday and has just phoned to say that they found several small stones. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this while pregnant and if you ended up needing to have them removed once baby was born or if the symptoms went away after as there was no more pressue pressing on the gall bladder.

I am 9 weeks now and at 4 weeks i had a gallbladder attack (thought it was heartburn) that sent me to emerge because i couldnt breathe.  After it was discovered that it was gallstones i had to wait 3 hours for the er doctor and the surgeon to weigh the options and decide if my gallbladder should be removed right then.  It was decided it calmed down enough over night i could see the surgeon later that week.  Thankfully i havent had any attacks but i am being followed closely by the surgeon and i have to eat a low fat diet to prevent any attacks. It is our goal to wait until the baby is born to remove my gallbladder.  I think that once you experience symptoms you will eventually need surgery whether it be to "blast" the stones or take the gallbladder out completely. I feel for you as it was excruiating pain! I am very nervous for when i get bigger and there is more pressure everywhere. Praying i can make it til baby is born. Good luck!
