Gastroschisis??

So I went to my 12 week ultrasound and found out my baby has gastroschisis which means some of the organs are growing outside of belly.  The doctors told me not to worry but being a first time mom I can't help but to worry.  Do anyone know anything about it or been through it before.  Im very scared for my baby.

Hi
I found out at 12 weeks my 1st born had this and it was very scary but it's not as rare as you think. I wanted to try for a natural birth but ended in emergency csection cause she wasn't coping and as soon as they got her out they rushed her off for surgery. 5 hours later I got to see her but they couldn't fit of her intestines back inside so they had to be in a bag. I couldn't hold her for while cause of the bag and all her wires. Think she was 1 week old before she had her next surgery to try fit the rest of her bowels inside and it just fit cause she was just so tiny. She wasn't able to eat either for about 2 weeks and had to be on drips cause her bowels and I had to express my milk and store it for her until she was ready. The hardest thing was to see if her bowels would start to work after having food it was so scary but luckily she did OK so at about 3 weeks I was able to breastfeed her it was the 1st best day of my life. She was 4 weeks old and doing well the doctors gave her the all clear to take her home it was the best news ever. Cause of all the stress I went through my milk did dry up tho so had to start formula and she had a lot of constipation I had to help her poo sometimes the poor little darling it was hard to find the right formula. But now she is 12 years old and doing so well only evidence she has a different looking belly button. I wish you and your baby all the best hunny hope it's a smooth journey for you xx

My nephews son had it. They take the baby for surgery sometime after birth and put it back in and sew them up. Usually they have to stay in the hospital for a little while. I think my nephews kid was in the hospital for 2 weeks after birth

I believe my dads friends daughter was born with this. Her small intestine was protruding through her abdominal wall or something. Everything was formed. Just not tucked in. So they just whisked her to the nearest childrens hospital and stiched her up I believe.
