Genetic testing

I'm only 4 weeks but today was the first day I met with my obgyn. The doctor asked me if I would want to do genetic testing on the baby eventually. Did anyone else do this?  I'm unsure if I should or not

I took the harmony test at 10 w 2 days. Waiting on my results now. I have regence bcbs and they require one factor to cover it (over 35, family history or an earlier indicator for further testing). I suppose it's up to you what you would do knowing the results.

Yeah he told me there are different types of ways to test for it but I'd have to check with what my insurance will cover. Did insurance cover for any one for a test?  How far along did you have to be?

I had to because my husband has one family member with it. All was good and got an extra ultrasound like pp said and a finger prick.

My insurance wouldn't pay for the transnucal u/s bit I did have the blood work done and then anatomy scan and I have to go back next week for f/u u/s and had to do more labs I'm 34 and this is my 2nd. Never did any of this with my first but that was 14 yrs. Prayers are welcomed. I was so worried and now I am OK giving it to God our creator.

I just had one done. The dr just goes in and looks at the fluid behind the baby's neck to make sure its normal and then looks for a nasal bone. My dr said I didn't have to do it but it just would give me another chance to see the baby so I said yes. They just give you a ultra sound and then prick your finger for blood and test the blood for other things. Chances are low for any diseases or down syndrome .  Good luck

I didnt. W any of my three kids. I hear so many false positives of people getting upset for nothing. I'm only 27 and my Hubby's  34 so if I was over 30 or he was over 35 then I probably would bc there would be a higher chance of downs and other issues it won't happen bc I'm not having any kids after I turn 30.   But its really a personal preference if you want to or not.
