German Shepard and baby

me and my boyfriend have a German Shepard.. She's never around kids, and this is our first baby. She's genuinely sweet and is nice to everyone, but she has an extremely anxious personality, never calms down, has an obsessive personality towards our cats, just never sits.. always panting and pacing. if she's not doing thatt Then she's whining...
She also gets jealous really quick. does anyone else have a dog like this that knows what to do? again she's a sweet dog. but I'm hoping she doesn't get jealous or obsessive towards the baby come November.

Maybe try a new routine with your dog start introducing him to children. When we first got our dog (lab mix) he was six months so he had never been around children he was very timid. So we introduced him to our niece and he was looking at her like what is this little thing lol. Once he realized these kids are normal then he became more comfortable with children. Although my dog has never seen a baby we know he'll get use to him very quickly because he'll be apart of the daily routine.

Hi,  I have a boxer who is 4 as well and actually has become severely aggressive towards me since I found out I was pregnant.  I'm also due in November. He has been brought up around children and actually sleeps wroth my oldest child.  I do keep him away from my youngest who just turned 2. I've never ever seen any type of aggression towards my kids but again this personality change is new for us.  I've spoken with the vet and they've recommended getting him fixed,  as he's very high strung already.  I'm not sure if your dog is fixed or not but may be worth speaking with your vet about possible options you have to help with her personality.  Even obedience training can help or more walks to calm her down.  But if you are scared she may become jealous of the baby I'd keep them separate as previously suggested and as the baby and dog get more accustom to the house structure slowly introduce them to one another,  but again I would let the dog linger around the baby for any extended time.

You could also get hey used to you holding something like you would a baby by using a doll. Also could find a recording of a baby crying so she gets used to it so the newborn isn't the first eve time she hears that.

Check out the Caesar Milan site and search for his way of easing the dog into a life with a baby around.

You should start.a new routine w the dog now so he doesn't blame the baby when it comes. If you plan on locking the dog up in a area of your house. Like maybe get a gate. I sugestg bringing a few things.home.from the hospital. before you come home. Like a hat, onsie  and receiving. Blanket. That all smell like the baby. Let.your dog sleep with them to get familiar with the smell.

My german shepherd is the same exact way
. My son stayed mainly in his playpen. And bouncers and such.. when it was tummy time we locked out big boy up.. Now he is 4yrs old and he allows my son to do virtually anything..

Most dogs and cats are jealous of newborns. They urinate and become more territorial.  I personally wouldn't have my newborn are any animal for any reason.  Just recently on the news an Indiana family lost their 3 month old bady because the "friendly" family dog bit the little one in the head. It was a little worse than that but I don't really like to talk about it. Just be carefully.
