Gestational Diabetes. ..

Failed the three hour glucose test about a week ago and just met with my Dietitian, Nurse and Social Worker.
Its a bit overwhelming to deal with....
Espically the first time ever having it.

Anyone else? ?

I havent had my doctor talk to me to much about the delivery aspect of it. Will/Is it normal for a planned induction of labor?
Im really hoping i get one thing out of this pregnancy and thats a last natural delivery.
Right now my sugars seem so normal with just a simple diet change and a god awful amout of water all day.
Ive just avoided sweets all together as best i can. I bought some stuff to add a little flavor to my water with no sugar, no carbs and all it did was make me feel dehydrated. So im thinking i may avoid the sweets all the way around.

Another great way to handle sweets/carbs cravings is to bake with splenda. it cuts carbs way down and i can't even tell the difference with baking!

The one advantage of gd is that my doctor insists on scheduled, early induction. I think this is great because it gives me a lot more control and planning over the delivery!

Thanks ladies.
Im trying my best. I figured i would do all the above;watch carbs, sugars and portion sizes and hopefully they can tell me what im eating wrong anx what to tweak at the next appt.
I was glad to find pinterest had some great ideas and recipes that i can refer to to help. Ill get it and like already said it goes away after baby which is what i was told yesterday too.
So heres to 100oz of water daily, fruits and nuts and 10 more weeks.lol.

Try to balance your Carbs with protein.  That will help with the blood sugar levels as well as exercise :)

Just watch your carbs. You'll be fine. I have it. It ***** because I can't eat cereal anymore. Its all trial and error even though they told me to watch my carbs and showed me what I can and cannot eat I'll eat something they said I could and it will go high so its all trial and error. Its not so bad.

Give it a few days on the diet they gave you. You'll do fine. And just remember gd goes away after baby comes!
