Gestational diabetes

I am 38 weeks and 5 days and I've been diagnosed with GD at 28 weeks,I don't take any insulin it is diet controlled, I've had high numbers like 7.6 if I ate the slightest sweetest thing the past 3 weeks. But the past few days I been testing myself I noticed that my readings are decent 5.3 even after eating 2 slices of chocolate explosion cake after 1h30mins. Where as 3 weeks ago I would eat 1 slice of cake and my sugar levels would be up the roof after 2 hours ... so my question is can GD go away in your later days of pregnancy or should I be concerned?? Oh and I was told I'm having a big baby measured 7 pounds at 37 weeks.

Mine went away after birth. I also had the same situation where my numbers would be perfect at the end of the pregnancy before delivery. My doc said your body can sometimes pick up on things but it's not going away just kinda adjusting a little. Only way to have it possible go away is delivery.

I have gd and found out at 28w also. I'm on insulin and tablets . Most of the time it goes away after birth but there is a slight chance it won't. Your also at higher risk of having gd in next pregnancy and also developing diabetes later in life. My rages are between 3.5 -5.5 before a meal and under 7.9 after an hour of eating. So 7.6 isn't high. My highesthas reached 11/12. The further on you get in to your pregnancy the more erratic your levels can become due to the pregnancy hormone . everyone is different. I'm 35 and 3 and so far my baby is a pound over the normal weight but they say that's fine and I should deliver normally.

No I don't think it goes away but I'm not sure . I would just keep up with the diet and it usually goes away after the pregnancy
