It really depends on the office. I've been to four different offices for my four pregnancies and the first two I asked me to fast after midnight,  third one said to eat a non sugary breakfast but to fast after 8am, and my last one just surprised me with the test. I told them I had a Dr Pepper with my breakfast and they said that was fine I didn't need to fast and gave me the test right then. I actually passed too lol.
