Group b strep

Does anyone else have it? I found out I had it after they took blood the first time when I was 10 weeks pregnant and now that I'm going into my 28th week I'm starting to get nervous!
Anyone else?
Maybe explain things a little bit better so I'm not as scared

I had it with my first two pregnancies. My girls were born perfectly healthy. They will probably swab you around 36weeks to see if you still have it, because you may not. This pregnancy I do not have it, so you see it comes and goes. There r ppl out there who don't even know they have it. Try not to stress if your positive again just make sure u arrive at the hospital in time for antibiotics and your little one should be fine :)

Yes I had it with my first, my midwife has just said they will put me on iv straight away. If your waters bresk you need to get into hospital to get on the anti biotics. Its perfectly simple to protect your baby from it but if you wait to go in it can be really very very servere. Some cases worse than others. It is a common condition and difficult to detect as you can have it one wk then not the next. But my thought if youve ever ever had it you obvs carry the bacteria.....and always always worth protecting your
baby....ill be straight to delivery once waters go and onto a drip this time too x good luck

I was tested at my first appointment (10 weeks) and it came back positive. I have since switched doctors and askwd her about it,  as to whether or not I would have to go to the hospital sooner to get treated for it and she said she was testing me again closer to my due date because it apparently comes and goes so I might not even test positive anymore.

I was positive with my first baby and they did exactly what bibithebear mentioned in her post. They got me started on IV antibiotics when I was admitted and nice and snug in my delivery room and it just prevents baby from contracting the bacteria from you when they pass through the cervix. Both myself and my son were great and stayed the normal length of time at the hospital. My doctor told me they do want to make sure the antibiotic is in you at least 4 hours before delivery, so don't wait it out at home forever just to lessen time in the hospital.

I was diagnosed with it too. This is my first pregnancy, and my doctor was very helpful about giving information. Pretty much she said, I would be given an IV antibiotic during labor. My cousin had it with her third baby and gave me this advice,  when you get to the hospital tell them you are strep positive, just in case your own doctor isn't there yet. A girlfriend of mine also gave birth with strep, her baby had contracted it in labor. They gave the baby antibiotics and kept them an extra day. So far, everyone including my doctors are saying not to worry and it's common. The most I ask and talk, it seems it is. Talk to your doc until you are comfortable.  It's your body and your baby, they will not judge you.
