Group strep b

E89
Does anybody else have this ? Or have been treated for it in the past. I'm due in just over two weeks and can't stop panicking about it. I know you need antibiotics during labor to prevent the baby getting infected. But then I read about late onset group strep b.. Which the baby can get up until 3 months old, which can cause meningitis, but you can't prevent it?? Does anybody know about this ?  Thanks :)

I had it my last pregnancy, my daughter is fine. Just make sure your doctor or midwife that's delivering your baby knows and they hook you up to the antibiotics... It really was nothing.

You can't prevent it.   It's normal vaginal bacteria.  Some women have it and some women dont.

I had tested positive for step b when I had my first son. It is really not a big deal. I freaked out about it at first too. You have to go to the hospital as soon as your water breaks or you think you are in labor because it takes about 4 hours of antibiotics before you deliver. Then you have to stay in the hospital for 48 hrs after delivery.
