I personally have not because I'm high risk, but I do know people who have. Just talk to your doctor about your birth plan, if he/she does not agree then you might want to search for a new doctor now. research different techniques you would like to try during birth. Water births are offered at many hospitals now.
I did for 2 of my deliveries. The only intervention was an iv that I had to have with antibiotics because I'm a carrier for strep. But there was no epidural, no episiotomy, no pain meds, no anything else. It was really satisfying knowing that I could do it on my own. I had gone to hypnotherapy training beforehand, and although I wasn't able to get my head completely into the right place when the time came, it did help knowing and believing that we women are amazing and are built to do this on our own if able!
You need to create a solid birthing plan with your doctor and be firm with the nurses in the hospital. Also be prepared to be flexible so that if something does go wrong you won't be devastated if you do need some sort of medical intervention. I did not have an all natural child birth with any of my babies. I had to be induced for the safety of my babies and myself. I had to have the vacuum used on one. His shoulder was stuck and the cord was around his neck causing his heart rate to drop and that is something you just can't avoid by anything you do or don't do. I chose to have an epidural but my nurse actually tried to talk me out it offering alternative pain relief such as walking, showering, or bouncing on a yoga ball so not all hospitals try to force medical intervention on their patients. So like I said have birth plan and make sure your nurses know what it is (bc you'll spend a lot more time with them than your doc during labor) but be ready if the unexpected happens and don't feel bad if you do need a little help.
Thanks ladies. I am currently 29 weeks and we will definitely be discussing birth plans at our next OB appointment.
I watched one episode of that documentary and felt like it was nothing but a smear campaign against hospitals. Just my opinion. If you want a natural birth your best bet is to just go with a midwife or at a birthing center. I'd rather have my child at the hospital on the off chance something went wrong jmo.
I have done it 4 times with no intervention whats so ever I plan on doing it again this time if all goes the same im lucky tho as I have never experienced the pain tho goes with labour my midwife said I must have a high tolerance to pain
You need to be firm about what you want or don't want... They may still ask u multiple times while your going through contractions, as they did with me, but if u stand firm they will respect your wishes and not intervene.
I did wif my second , and as much as it hurt I felt awesome afterwards for hving dne it! I hope I can do it Again wif this one
