He is here!!!!!

My beautiful babyboy Oliver took his first breath yesterday, at 33+5. It all went really fast. Started havin contractions at home around 5.30 am, water broke in the taxi on my way to the hospital and was fully dilated when i arrived. I thought i was only going to have a check and birth was completely not in my thoughts. Tried to push for abt 45 min but as his head was laying a bit weird and he was very high up in my belly they decided to do a ceisarian. He was 2.1 kg and 54 cm long. He is struggling a bit to breathe as his lungs are not fully developed but for the moment he is stabile and his blood tests from the evening was a lot better than the ones from right after birth. I have still not been able to hold him as he has to lay with oxygen and focus his energy on the breathing. Can't wait till he gets better so I can hold him in my arms for the first time. I was able to pump a little bit so he got this through his sonde.
Has anyone else had their baby prematurely?

Congratulations, I did some work experience in the neonatal ward & they take such good care of the little bubs. You'll be surprised how quickly he gets stronger especially with your milk. You'll be holding him in no time x

Hey chris I had twins at 28 weeks. One was born heallthy and needed cpap and oxygen the other whos name is also oliver was born very sick. His lungs were so underdeveloped its amazing he survived birth. He was on ventilator for a week then cpap etc. It is a very long road and it gets very overwhelming at times. Mine were in for nearly 3 months but now are two very healthy 4 yr olds. You will get through ot ok. Holding them is worth the wait but can seem like an eternity.  Just be mindful of infection as I was told this is what causes most preterm babies to die. Good luck and hang in there! It will get easier:)

Thank you all for your wishes and prayers! It has been a rough couple of days as Oliver is struggling to breathe on his own and last nught we ended up being transferred to the university hospital instead so he can be seen by a specialist. They are now saying he will habe to stay in the hospital for 3-7 weeks deoendung on how he is doing. I am an emotional wreck after all this back and forth and almost passed out while sitting by his side yesterday. I'm barely sleeping, I have a lot of pain from c section and I'm so worried my lil prince won't be ok. It's 7 am here now so just waiting for the doctors rounds later so I can gey more info.

Congrats Mama! I was born 2 1/2 months premature 33 years ago. You'd never know it. Technology is so much more advanced today. Sounds like he'll be just fine.
