Having contractions.....and the doctors will not do anything.

I'm 35 +3. I've beem having contractions since Wednesday. I went to the doctor's on Wednesday morning. The contractions were every 5 min. They gave me an IV to see if they would stop or slow down. It did nothing. My doctor told me that it was too late in my pregnancy to give me medicine to stop them. Oh, I forgot I was dilated 1cm. They sent me home. So after the comtractions continues for about 6 hours, I go to the hospital. I get hooked up to the monitor. My contractions come every 4-5 min for 4 hours. After 4 hours they give me morphine because my contractions r getting strong. I dilated to 2 cm. After the morphine, the contraction slowed down. So today I go to the doctor's, I'm still having contractions and they will not do anything. She told me that I can go to work on Monday. Im so confused. :\

you can do! I know it's hard I had similar exp. w/my first and it left me beat b/c they were waking me up all night. I was sent to the hospital to early and all I can say be thankful you are not waiting during this time in the hospital b/c short of going in there and getting the baby they really can't do anything and it was exhausting and expensive to go through hours of early Labour in there! I know it stinks but hang in there.....its worth it!

Not anything to do about the contractions. There are techniques to help with pain but idk any you can do at work. I know the feeling I'm having trouble focusing on school work because of contractions. I knew I should have taken off this term but thought I could do it. I wish I knew what to tell you. We are stuck suffering through them until babies are born and just kind of have to do best we can to go on with our daily lives. I would say maternity leave but you only get so much time and will need it when baby gets here.

Im not worried about being dilated. I can't go to work having contractions. They said just keep doing your normal routine. My contractions r still coming consistantly. I can't do this for weeks. I will go crazy.

They won't stop it at this point and until you reach about 5cm it is considered early labor which can last anywhere from hours to weeks. I've been having contractions since 33 weeks. At 36 week appt was 2cm 0% effaced, 37 week appt 3cm 60% effaced. I just had contractions start Wednesday night strong 3 minutes apart and they lasted more than 15 hrs and did nothing I'm still in early labor. Not much they can do until you hit active labor. Don't worry though you could stay at 2cm until dd or you could dilate slowly. They know what their doing.

The drs know what they are looking for, as long as your water hasn't broken yet you can stay at 2 cm for quite some time and thays not dilated enough to consider it active labor. The worry comes when your water breaks because them baby is at risk for infection.
