2 is usually the normal. One early and one at or around 20 weeks. Somerimes dr will do more if something didnt look right or they wanna check something . I had 5 with my son. Everything was fine but at first measured small then they wanted check cause I was measuring weeks ahead. There can be a number of reasons they do more than 2 but I'm pretty sure the normal is 2 sometimes 3
I had 4. One transvaginal at 7 wks to verify pregnancy. One at 12 weeks to get some measurements and check for problems and hear heartbeat. One at 18 weeks for anatomy and sex. Another at 22 weeks because a couple things were missed on the anatomy scan. Not expecting another unless there is trouble. 35 weeks now.
I have only had 2, last was at 20weeks where i found out the sex and they did measurements etc.....but thats it and im 38weeks today. My doctor said if everything stays normal like it has been, i wont need another scan at all, unless i go over due, cos they can feel baby is in the right position :)
My doc does 3. One at the initial appt, one when they checked for genetic problems, and one at 20 weeks for anatomy scan. I've had two more as I'm high risk (32 weeks and 36 weeks).
I belive the norm is 3. One is the vaginal to see if there is a fetus. The second to take measurements of spine and other stuff and the third is the anatomy one, which i believe is usually around 20 weeks. After that if you are measuring okay and everything seems normal i dont think they do.
We only get one paid for by insurance unless your high risk. So the anatomy scan is all I got.
They do check those things during the anatomy scan the third scan is usually like you said to check measurements, position and to make sure all is still ok. The norm for my doctor's office is 3 unless more are needed.
