I have given up a lot of things for pregnancy, although admittedly smoking is not one of them, so I don't know exactly what you're going through. I've lost two children in the past, and what keeps me going now is that if something happens, I want to know that I did everything I could. The guilt from my first nearly drove me insane.

I know how you ladies feel. Im almost 14 weeks and having horrible depression because i havent quit yet, either. My husband and i have agreed that new years we are going to quit together, and the thought of it puts me in a panic. Its a vicous cycle, and im struggling everyday to break it. Reading this post and these comments have helped a lot. Maybe we can all email each other and help each other through it. Id love some support :) message me and let me know if anyone wants to be email quitting buddies :)

My doctor recommended an e-cig. I know they're controversial because there have not been ALOT of studies on them but bottom line is they are not worse then cigarettes. For me it was the habit. It took the edge off enough to quit but i still crave them everyday. So here's my personal advice, Research, and doctors recommend to everything asked and said-

Deformities- smoking MAY increase the chance the baby May have cleft lip or cleft pallet. The chances are still very small.

Risks- we all know there are risks to smoking...the biggest is premature delivery and low birth weight which causes other problems. BUT DONT FOCUS ON THOSE! Why? Because it's not going to happen to you so don't stress yourself about it. Focus on quitting FOR YOU and for your baby.

Don't beat yourself up if you are struggling. Everyone struggles with this. Quitting will be one of the hardest things you will ever do but you can do it. It may take a while or it may take 2 or 3 tries....the point is if you do cheat DONT beat yourself up with guilt. Just focus on not cheating the next time.

IF you are unable to completely quit....ALSO DONT beat yourself up. DO YOUR BEST to quit for your health and your babies but if all you can do is cut down to 1 or 2 a day that's better than smoking a pack. Pat yourself on the back everyday you smoke less and less. If yo u can...set a date...tween yourself off slowly...and when that date comes just throw the rest away. Try a vaporizer for the habit but make sure you eventually use zero nicotine with that too.

Last....NEVER let people make you feel bad. Like I said we are all doing the best we can. Quitting is hard. It's unbelievably hard but you can do it! Until you do completely quit....hold your head high. Never let people look down upon you....and remember how great of a mom You will be because you are actually trying and that's something that not all mothers even care enough to do....try. Good luck ladies!

I am not a smoker and I am totally against it, especially while pregnant, but I give you 100% credit for trying. Some people don't even care and just take the chance.

This whole post makes me want a cigarette and I don't even smoke lol! I can't imagine dealing with unhealthy impulses along with all of your body's changes and stress that comes with being pregnant. Hold steady and have faith. My husband is quitting and cuts it back by 1 smoke a day, a week. He's gone from smoking 10 cigarettes a day to 6 in the last four weeks.

I heard it can cause the baby to be smaller then a none smokers baby and it can cause breathing problems. But my mom smoked w me and I'm pretty normal! Lol and don't have breathing problems. Just cut back as much as you can also write down every night the pros and cons of smoking! It really helps! Cons always will out way the pros of smoking. Good luck! :)

I totally get it, this wasn't a planned pregnancy for me and it took me and out a month to stop. The ecig helped, but then I had to quit the ecig. Sometimes I use the gum if I'm really stressed. I still miss it and it doesn't help that my friends and family smokes. But just keep your head up girly. So many woman have experienced what your going through right now and no it isn't easy but it's worth it. And I've also heard it's best to slow down and quit because the stress is just as bad if not worse for the baby. Honestly for me the gum worked the best. Hope that helps and keep your head high. Being pregnant is no easy job!

I have smoked for 13 years and it has always been my stress reliever! I am 24 weeks pregnant I quit by 5 weeks because it made me so sick. My doctor told me when I first got prego if I can't quit don't stress over it because the stress is worse for the baby then the smoking. She said cut back as much as you can and go from there. I'm going to be real w you I dream about smoking every night. I'm hoping not to go back to it after my baby gets here but I know its going to be so hard! I know the first beer I have I will have a CIG lol! Its also really hard watching my husband smoke his cigs every day! It pisses me off that I quit and he didn't. But I keep thinking I'm the woman I'm stronger then he is that's why women have babies!

This is what in told people when I was trying to quit and they kept bugging me. "Its a proven fact that quitting smoking is the hardest drug to stop, more harder than crack or heroin. Second unless you are being supportive of me in your actions, thoughts, words, expressions, or information you give me, please keep it to yourself. Im stressed enough without your underminding rude comments. I'm doing my best and it's good enough for me. Please see that I'm doing this while pregnant and added stress is not healthy for my little one. So either you are going to be positive and supportive or your going to not share your cooments, options, ect with me anymore."

It's for sure nerves, and I am totally stuck in this thought process with the Dad. He's not quitting cigarettes, this is OUR baby. Why am I the only one who has to stop? Oh Ya, Cuz I'm carrying him or her. Honestly seeing this post right now have me so much strength.  I get very down on myself for not being able to be strong enough.  Other women who are pregnant and thriving/glowing/enjoying every second and I'm over here like hiding because I'm ashamed.  Anyway girl... good luck. Know you helped someone today

I wish you luck! Quitting smoking was the hardest thing I ever did but the rewards are great! I been smoke free for two years. Just keep trying and don't give up. If you can't quit then try an e cigarette I heard those help or just cut back to one a day if you can. Anything you do is helpful. Some people might be judgmental and I ask that you just ignore them and keep thinking positive thoughts. Even though I don't smoke I get people judging me for drinking 2-3 cups of coffee a day. The way I see it I cut back from a pot (8 cups) a day to that so I'm good. Try not to stress. I wish you the best. You can do it!

I feel your pain. Just try to replay in your head over and over the thought of them taking your baby after you give birth.

I Completely understand. It was so hard for me. It took till I was 16 weeks before I was able to quit. What helped and what my doctor recommended was using a vaporizer to break the habit. It really worked. I used the lowest amount of nicotine...smoked that for about a week....then completely quit all together. Ive been quit for 8 weeks now. Just keep trying and try a vaporizer. My doctor suggested it and honestly it worked wonders. Good luck hun
