How do I tell the difference!? Help!!! :)

I'm 34 weeks with my first pregnancy. How can I tell the difference between really bad cramps and contractions !? Whenever I see my doctor she asks if I'm feeling any contractions, and I say no just cramps, but what if they're contractions. Idk!!!!

Contractions feel a painfully heavy weight is bearing down from your stomach to your vagina. You can feel them rolling in from your back. Trust me you'll know the difference.
