Thanks for bringing this up. Never really thought about it. Definitely going to talk with hubby about this.
That's my plan as well. To use cloth home made wipes and cloth diapers. Environmentally friendly also!
This is an awesome post! :-) out done almost three now has very sensitive skin runs in my husband's family. So we c assume evelyn(our baby girl) on the way lol well be sensitive as well. We mostly use(d) huggies martial care fragrance free wipes with him only ones that don't bother him. But even eating certain things send to leave rashes thigh he's been tested for allergies and didn't airway to have any. so at those times we use baby wash cloth and warm water with a tiny bit of baby soap in it. As I was getting more things ready in evelyns room the other day I found myself during on the floor ripping all our old burp rags in half to use a natural wipes lol. They are softv and will work well fir homemade reusable wipes and I can just throw them right in the diaper pail with the cloth diapers and together :-) whoever mentioned the spray bottle that sounds like a great idea ! :-)
Im thinking of using resuable baby washclothes and putting them in a wipe warmer. I seen a youtube video where the washcloths are dampen with water mix with coconut oil,and tea tree oil. Then folded and placed in the warmer, saves money too.
I use to wash my kids when they went to the bathroom and never delt with rash. I only used homemade wipes when we were out and about
And big brand baby shampoo...
I got some bamboo wipes and wet them as i go.
I made mine with baby #1. One side soft baby flannel and the other a soft terry cloth. I used a spray bottle with a very small amount of castile soap and if you want a few drops essential oil :-)
We were told by our pediatrician to be careful with what wipes we used since a lot of the ingredients are not tested for long term effects. After our daughter had a diaper rash at 5 weeks I was told not to use wipes while the rash healed. I stopped using them and now she's 21 months and I never used them again.
I tried homemade wipes with a roll of Viva paper towels cut in half, but they got moldy before I used them all. GROSS. So I just use soap, water and a wash cloth for poopies. When she was exclusively breastfeed water was enough for diaper changes between baths.
Oh my.gosh homemade baby wipes are the best!!! I make mine with a little organic baby soap and coconut oil. They are super easy and great for little butts :)
Baby powder and bath products also are others you should be cautious of. Best of luck. And I hope you find some safe alternatives.
I never really thought about it but my daughters skin is really sensitive thus might be a great alternative thanks for bringing it up !
