Hyperemesis

Has anyone here been diagnosed with Hyperemesis?  If so, what did it take for your doctor to really take u seriously about your nausea and vomiting? I'm at 13 weeks with severe nausea and vomiting and it seems every time I bring it up to any one including my dr they look at me like I'm making all of this up.I am starting to feel really depressed at this point because I can't get to my normal self and really enjoy being pregnant due to all this sickness. Any advice would be greatly appreciated :)

Thanks Cecilia. I hope you have a smooth delivery. I'm a first timer and after this I don't even know if I'dwant to rrisk going through this again! Lol! Of course at the end it's all worth it but I at least wna enjoy some part of it. It took my husband and I 3 years so it truly is a blessing but I wasn't expecting all of this. I feel the same way about bathing I only bathe because I have to go to work but if I didn't really have to I wouldn't. Lol! I know it sounds gross but I just feel that bad sometimes.

I had bad morning sickness till 16 wks. Lasted 20 weeks with my others. Took zofran 4 mg.... doc told me to do 2 4mg every eight hrs. Then they switched me to 8mg. Also, sour drinks like Lemon water etc helped keep fluids down right after the meds kicked in. I still would throw up but I could keep at least 1 or 2 meals down a day. Hope your Dr starts paying attention to your needs.

I was diagnosed with it first pregnancy I lost 15 lbs in first 2 1/2 months. Ended up in the er puking blood bc all the acid and bile I was puking up wore away my esophagus lining so blood was seeping through. I ended up being admitted had a two day hospital stay with iv zofran and had to take it test of pregnancy I never got better. On average I took 2_3 pills a day so I could eat. Thankfully baby was perfectly healthy. But it is very depressing bc you are right you really can't enjoy your pregnancy bc you are c so sick. I wasnt even able to bathe myself for a time before I got treated bc I was so dehydrated and weak. I really hope you get to feeling better soon! :-) best of luck. After going through that and ending up with a csection it took me 2 years to decide to have another. We are due in December and I am very nearly this time and sooo thankful. I hope things get better for you soon huny.

Thank you. I have Zofran the one that dissolves under the tongue. But it's only 4 mg and it says I can only take one every 6 hours.  At first it worked but now it doesn't seem to be working that well anymore I guess my body has gotten use to it already. I'm thinking I may need to ask my doctor if I can up the dosage on it.

I'm sorry your feeling so sick and your Dr isn't being helpful. I wasn't diagnosed with it but I had pretty bad morning sickness until about 11 weeks (I'm 13 now too) and when I brought it up to my Dr he immediately sent me in a prescription for zofran and told me to take it as needed because he didn't want me to be miserable. I would just keep on your Dr about it and if he still won't take you seriously or offer any advice then maybe look for a different Dr or midwife...sorry I can't be more helpful! Good luck!!
