And I don't mind if it doesn't get followed as long as no one else is in the room and I can breastfeed theyare my 2 main requests

Thankyou ladies your opinions mean a lot as for having someone to throw people out of the room it will have to be my mums job as I know my boyfriend wont say anything seen as he wants his mum there and certainly no photo's whilst in labour ill save them for when she's born I dont want pictures of me in pain lol

The one thing I always found very helpful in any of my labors was deligating someone to be my guard dog so to speak lol. Someone you can look at and say to them "get that person out of my room" and they will do it for you. Someone to help put YOUR birthing plan back on track if it starts getting derailed by others. Remember this is your baby your labor and very well could be one of the most difficult but joyless things you ever do so its important to make sure your not worrying about anything that you don't have to. Having that person to help you enforce your wishes is a wonderful thing it allows you to concentrate on the task at hand :)

As for having your mom in there i think it's a great idea. I only had my husband and mom the entire time. My dad came in for a couple minutes but that was it. What's great about having your mom is she can always give your bf a break. You don't really get one but having 2 support people is wonderful. My mom took pictures for me and that was wonderful. Also make it very clear to the nurses you don't want your boyfriends mom in there. They are really good at making sure things like that don't happen :-) it's part of their job. And I don't think it's mean of you at all. There is a huge difference between your mom and his mom. There always will be.

Just a reminder you can have it all planned out but don't be surprised if it is nothing you expected. Have the basics like pain meds who you want in the room etc but keep an open mind thru it all.

I think what was most important to me tho was that as soon as baby was born they put her in my chest. They didn't even clean her off. They did suck the fluid out of her lungs and make sure she was breathing properly but that was it. It was important to me because I wanted to breastfeed to try it right away and having her on me skin to skin helped tremendously. She latched on within 20 minutes of being born :-)

Be prepared that just because you write it in your birth plan, doesn't mean it will come true! At our prenatal class, with my first pregnancy, we were told that if you have a preference about something, write it down, even if you aren't really passionate about that one thing. My birth plan ended up being 2 pages because I wrote down every single thing I could think of, I gave it to the nurses when I got there and when we left the hospital, they gave it back to me and laughed and said "We went over your birth plan and out of 2 pages of things, not one thing went the way you requested!" So I just warn you not to focus on one thing too much cuz you never know what will happen, I know I won't be doing a birth plan this time around! (sorry if this was kinda negative, just don't want you to get your hopes up)

I was going to have just me and my boyfriend but most of the time I don't understand the doctors and midwifes so my mum being a nurse is a good option to have in the room she can also then advise me of the best options and different outcomes and help me to make decisions when im distressed. Although his mum is jelous because mine is going to be in the room she got the video camera out ready to film the birth! There is no way any videos or pictures are going to be taken whilst im giving birth I also want just bonding time with my baby ive carried her for 9 months so I atleast deserve her to myself for a few days without people taking her off of me for cuddles my boyfriend says im horrible for saying it and writing it in my plan but I know I will be on edge if I didnt just waiting for people to enter the room

That's good & the families should be able 2 understand ur feelings. With my 1st it was just me and my hubby. While I didn't plan that, it was a very beautiful moment. My mother & mother in law went down to get a coffee and when they came back baby had arrived.

Thanks im 36 weeks today and thought id best get a move on writing it seen as though ive been in warly labour since 31weeks and they dont think ill carry full term my boyfriend has got the munk on with me for writing that I want no visitors whilst in hospital including his mum and dad is this mean of me ? Theyre patronising and want everything done their way I have been studying childcare and the theory into it all for 5 years so I have a pretty good idea of how I would like to fetch my child up without them getting involved  they make me nervous snd I have nightmares they're the type that once theyre in the hospital they wont leave me alone his mum allready tried to tell me she was going to be in the room whilst im giving birth (big nono !) She's jelous because my mum will be there with me but my mums a nurse so can advise me throughout labour and explain to me what the mudwifes and doctors are saying other than that I have allready told my family that I will invite them when im ready and dont want them calling for progress all the time whilst in hospital I want me and my partner to bond with our baby before anyone else visits I know I sound paranoid but people are making me feel this way I have nightmares about people running off with my child which I know is making me very overprotective
