I no my aunt had alot of problems coming off prozac so did I but I wasnt pregnant then. I no citalopram is safest to use in pregnancy xx
Me and my partner tried for five years about three year's ago was diagnosed with bipolar and about 7 months ago I was referred to have treatment after my psych discharged me but for the treatment I had to stop smoking and cut my meds. I wanted to stop them completely but I wasnt allowed im on a minimum dose and I have been ok xxx
I was on 20 mg a day of Prozac when I found out I was expecting. I immediately spoke to my doc and started taking it every other day for a week, then every two days for a week, and finally none. My doc said there are not a lot of withdrawl symptoms associated as it stays in your system and discintegrates over time.
I am now off prozac completely, and it is a struggle, but it wont be forever. Your body goes through some major chemical changes coming off any ssri, and being pregnant doesnt help. It will get better! Hang in there!
I cut down my dose. I went off for a few months and just could not do it. I take 5 mg. And currently 19 wks. I have had ultrasounds and everything is going great. I plan on bumping up. After baby is born.
You're welcome! Good luck
Speak to your doctor about dialing back your meds safely. Going cold turkey or cutting down without doctors oversight can be just as dangerous to baby and you as continueing your meds.
Thank you, very helpful. I will talk to my doc : )

I was on anti depressants and bi polar medications before I found out I was pregnant. I immediately started cutting my dose in half. I did that for about a week. Then I cut it in half again. Only did that for a few days, because I didn't want to put meds in my system anymore. It is possible to be on meds while pregnant, but I don't know if prozac is one of the safe ones or not. Talk to your doc. You may not have to stop taking them so you're not so emotional. Stopping medication all at once is very dangerous. You have to slowly let it out of your system.
