My first was a csection, she was breech. The worst part is when you're in recovery and the nurse has to push in your uterus to make sure it's in place. She did it twice and the second time I grabbed her hands and pushed them away. It was instinct because I've never felt that kind of pain in my life. It was horrible!! Also, because my baby was breech she ended up with hip dysplasia and her clitoris was engorged they thought she had a penis. Overall, nerve wracking experience but I'm glad I didn't have to push our be in labor for hrs. I prefer a csection for my second. Congrats and good luck!!
My first was an emergency because of my complications. It was scary. My second time was supposed to be planned but he came a week before my scheduled day but it was really great. My water broke at home at 8:30am and I had my little guy in my arms by 11:30 am. Yes the recovery part is harder but as stated above, keep moving around and stay on top of your pain med times. I didn't need to finish my prescription either time though. Good luck. It's all worth it.
Most of the horror stories are those who had to have emergency c sections. Since it is planned and everyone is calm and taking time for prep and surgery you should be fine. Just follow instructions that they give you. I had a vaginal and a planned csection and for my person experience the section was so much better. Good luck! :)
I'm having my 3rd c-section on March 16th...the only advice I can give you is don't stop taking your pain meds...try to be on your feet as soon as you can just take it easy...best wishes...keep us posted :-)
It's not bad, walking really helps. I was fine after 2 weeks even it hurt to get up. I'm having a repeat one also on July. Just don't lift really heavy stuff
Honestly, I had no choice but to have one with my first and it wasn't that bad. Recovery hurts, but if you stay on top of the pain medicine it makes a difference. Also get up and walking around as soon as possible in the hospital. It makes everything start working right again and from what I've heard helps from getting too sore. The other big thing I learned is to keep an extra pillow with you and press it against your stomach if you're changing positions/coughing/laughing. It helps add support for the muscles.
I am having a repeat in a week, and after a full weekend of false labor because I was dehydrated - I'm super happy I don't have to deal with stronger contractions/pushing/or tearing.
I know some people have a hard time feeling like it's not a "real" birth but you are still going through an entire pregnancy, and a different kind of work to get them here. I think it's kind of what you make of it.
