2nd child nerves

My 1st child is going to be 5 years old this year and after months of trying,  we just found out we are finally pregnant again :) I am so nervous with this one and I don't feel as excited, I'm sad about that.... does anyone else feel like this and does it get better?

I am in the same situation. My son will be 5 this summer and I am 7 weeks pregnant. I was excited when I found out but now I am remembering how miserable I was with my first pregnancy and I am not looking forward to the next 7 months. You already know what to expect so it takes some of the excitement out of it. It's like riding your favorite ride over and over again. Eventually it is not as fun anymore.

My son just turned 4 and I'm 31 weeks pregnant with a girl. I feel bad, but I'm definitely not that excited even though we were trying for 2.5 years before getting pregnant again

I am also around the 7 weeks and my son will be 5 in September. He is very excited but keeps asking if I am going to have a boy or girl. I keep talking with him about the good things of either gender because I don't want him to be upset when we find out. I finally have him excited either way :)

Thank you, That really made me feel better. I know that when I am further along things will look up. My son is very excited for a sibling. I do remember the different stages of pregnancy....and I also know, as soon as I hold the new baby it will work out. It has been a few years but I really can't wait for the newborn in my arms :)

It's normal to not be as excited the second time around because, let's face it, we know what is coming. Sleepless nights and crying and diapers. Not to mention those really uncomfortable last couple of months of pregnancy where we have to shuffle around in bathroom slippers cause we can't fit any shoes on our swollen feet. It is totally normal. You will feel more excited when it gets closer or when you find out the sex if you want to know. I wouldn't worry about it. We all go through different emotional stages throughout---sometimes several stages in one day. Relax and enjoy every minute.
