Induction without Epidural

I have 3 days until my due date and I want a natural birth, but my doctor says that at my next appointment at 40w+3 if I'm still pregnant he would like to schedule induction.  All I have read is that induction is more painful. Can any of you that have experienced induction and a natural birth share your experience? Was there a big difference?
thanks!

I was induced at 40 wks 3 days bc my water broke with my first pregnancy. I was induced with pitocin at around 7am. I didn't feel a lot of the contractions but then they hit hard around 2pm. From 2-4pm my labor and contractions were intense but I tried my hardest to barrel through them and not clench. I didn't want an epidural going into labor bc I knew it would lower my blood pressure which was already low. If you don't have an epidural you will know when you are ready to push and when your baby wants out. All you feel is an urge to push. My baby was born at 4pm! The pitocin can either have an ok/bad effect on you. Everyone is so different. I wish you lots of luck and a healthy delivery!

With an induction they will likely use pitocin.. pitocin makes your contractions a lot stronger and harder to handle. Even as bad as they overlap! I had to use it after my labor stooped and I did it pain killer free and it was horrific! But do able.

I wasn't dilated at all with my last two and only to 2cm with my first and didn't end up with a Csection with my inductions. If you aren't already dilated just make sure they have you come in the night before for the cervix softening drug. I forget what it's called but they insert the night before and then remove it the next morning before starting the pitocen. :-)

I've had one natural and one induction. I asked to be induced only because #2 was hubbys first. And he was leaving 3 days after my due date for a month. He was in the navy...so no choice. Anyway like the last post said you can kindly listen to what doc has to say/offer as far as other options. But it is your body and baby. Induction does hurt a lot more because it's synthetic. I did ask for an epidural but he was in an emergancy c section. But that didn't matter because I was pushing 5 minutes later. So there wouldn't have been time anyway. I wouldn't choose to be induced again but if medically necessary I would do it without and epidural again. Also something to think about. And your doc probably won't tell you this. But if you aren't already dialated to at least a 3 (which I wad at a 3) most inductions end up in an emergency c section.

Unless they think baby is in distress allow your body to do what it needs and when baby is ready. I delivered my daughter at 41+6 but my labor was 8 hours. Don't let them force you into an indication if you don't want it! You get to make the final decision.

You are the owner of your body, your doctor can make recommendations but you make the decisions. I would opt for the inductions on the fact that your likely to go 10 days past due date and will.end up in the hospital for Christmas day. Ask him to try "sweeping" you first to see if that helps bub along. Clearly if your doc says bub is in trouble or you are in trouble start listening to the doctor.

I was induced and went natural with my last. It wasn't by choice though lol. I was induced with all three of my kids and had an epidural with all three but the epidural with my third failed. I won't lie the first two with the working epidurals were much more relaxed and painless but the natural one wasn't unbearable. If I were to be induced again i would go natural again.

I didn't get induced but they had to start pitocin or whatever that's called to jump start labor because I wasn't dilating. I couldn't go all natural but I tried.
