Thanks for your input ladies!. I will probably buy some tonight and see how it goes im trying to reach the 100% effacment. As of last week I was at 75%...thing is if there progress my doc will induce soon since I have alot of aches and pains due to pregnancy. We shall see how it goes. Thanks again!.
I took them when I was 39 weeks and 3 days. I was checked on week 39, I was 2cm dilated and 60% effaced. My mid wife had performed a membrane sweep that didn't work within the time frame, and was very uncomfortable and painful for me. I started taking the evening primrose soft gels 5 days before my due date and my son was born a day early. My water broke sending me into labor. The labor wasn't really easy, but I didn't tear. When I arrived to the hospital I was 4cm dilated and 100% effaced. While taking the soft gels, I was losing my muscus plug. I believe they helped thing you out (effaced). In the end, I believe they helped, but it could have been a mixture of everything and my body being ready, since, when I was checked I made a good bit of process before the membrane sweep and taking the soft gels.
When you efface it helps for the cervix to open up. The pressure from the baby you know? The EPO can help move things along
I put 2 vaginally every night for the past week. I got checked the other day. I'm 3 cm and 70% thinned. And before that I was just 2 cm 0% thinned. I say it worked for me. If there's nothing wrong with you and your doctor isn't concerned about anything. I'd try it out. It cost like 12$ for 60 soft gel tablets.
Hmm. It does seem a little scary. But Ive seen how its worked for so many girls on here I should ask my doctor. Well I'm already 38 weeks and last he checked 2 weeks ago I was already 75% effaced...so he doesnt help u dilate only soften the cervix?.
I asked my midwife about them. She said they were safe. It doesn't automatically start labor. You start at 36 weeks and insert them at bedtime. (Place a towel under you) it softens your cervix and is supposed to make labor go more smoothly. She said there was no danger in using them.
I've heard it's dangerous to insert anything vaginally as it can cause an infection. However, I've heard ladies prick a small hole in the capsule and rub it all over their belly. Good luck :)
