My 1st baby was a natural birth, my water broke and I was in labor for 12 hours with him. It took about an hour to push him out. My 2nd time around I was induced, I went in around 7 am and they started me on pitocin, I was 3 cm when I went in about nd by noon I was at 6cm, got my epidural and 40 mins later I was at 10 cm and it took 3 pushes and my daughter was born. Lots of pain from being on the pitocin, epidural only gave me about 30 mins of being pain free, so I had a shorter labor, and the pain was the same as my 1st but it just didn't feel "natural". I would nuchal rather go natural like with my 1st this time around, but I'm over 38 weeks and my Dr is inducing me next Friday at 39 weeks. I don't think it's any different than going naturally, except your mind knows it's not natural, so you feel cheated or something like that lol I doubt I'll have this baby without induction, and I'm okay with that, but it's also upsetting that my body needs help. Good luck, and don't worry its no more painful. Plus the ending is amazing and worth all the pain, bc you'll have your precious baby in your arms :)

I have been induced all 3 times and this is my 4th & will be induced on Monday with pitocin..to me it wasn't painful because I had an epidural so I didn't feel anything & they went quick after they broke my water..all women are different & every pregnancy & delivery is not the same...I like hearing about other women's pregnancys & births..each is so different none is the same

I was induced with my first due to high blood pressure. I had a foley bulb inserted at 10pm, it fell out in the morning. I was then started on pitocin at noon. After they broke my water is when it really started getting unbearable. It took 11 hours since the start of pitocin and I pushed for just under an hour. My son wasn't too happy about being evicted from his cozy spot though. He spent 5 days in the NICU "transitioning from womb to outside world" as they put it. I'm hoping to go naturally this time around. The foley bulb was the worst part in my opinion. Worst cramping I've ever experienced.

I was induced 6 weeks ago- he is our first. I went in the night before and they started me on cervidil (around 11pm). The next morning pitocin was administered and shortly after they broke my water. I pushed for 2.5 hours and that was with the help of the OB using the vacuum on my son. Once I was started on pitocin and to the time my son came out, I was in labor for 13 hours and 24 mins. I am not going to lie, pitocin is no joke!

You also have a higher chance of having to have a c-section being induced as well. I've never been induced but I have always heard it takes longer and hurts much worse.

I was induced with my first. They gave me the cervadil (sp?) at like 7pm and then started pitocin in the morning. She was born at 11;58am. Personally, I think inductions go just fine if the baby is pretty much ready to come anyways. But everyone is different, some women have a heck of a time being induced. I guess I just got lucky :)

I've been induced twice. For me it was 7 hours both times start to finish. I was induced once with cervadil, and once with pitocin. The pitocin was Def a harsher start and less "natural" like. The cervadil was more of a Natural labor. But that's my experience.

Yes. It doesn't hold true for everyone, but statistically, yes your labor is more likely to be longer and more painful.
