Job interview-- bittersweet.

Soo I have a job interview in 2 weeks as a registered nurse. I am a new graduate and by the time they interview me, I will be 34 weeks pregnant. I feel so discouraged u guys. I know it's a turn off for recruiters to see a pregnant person applying for a nursing job ..at 34 weeks pregnant at that. This hospital is wonderful and I always wanted to work here. I'm contemplating whether or not I should even go. I'm so afraid to just be turned down. It's illegal to discriminate but let's be real... my chances are lower because I'm pregnant. :( I'm feeling sad and Idk what to do!

I will be 30 wks tomorrow and I dont have a job. I have the same worry when it comes to interviews. Like you said they're not supposed to discriminate but if you and someone not pregnant are both qualified..... good luck to you! I think the other ladies advice is good. Besides, if they like you then they may overlook it.

Best advice ever.  Haha. Thank you! If it's meant to be, it will be! It's just stressful because I need to make this money for my baby.

They are probably not going to be thrilled with the idea of you being that far along. They don't even have to give you maternity leave because you wouldn't be there long enough to qualify. Idk mama. I'd still go for the interview next to get your name in there.  Maybe be open to per diem- that gets your foot in the door at least.  Then apply for full time once your ready. Most places give preference to in house workers before hiring outside.

Definitely go! Like you said, they may hire you at a later date if not this time around. Good luck!

Show them your interest and express that during your interview. Let them know how long it is you've been waiting for this job opportunity even if it's not the best timing possible. Even if you don't get the position at least you show them you have the curage to walk in there with your belly attempting for a shot at possibly the one job you've been wanting the most. I'm sure the people interviewing you have had children before and obviously been prego in the past and maybe have been in your shoes. The worse thing they can do is tell you no, but at least you can be much better prepared for your 2nd interview if you reapply or maybe you turned out to be better than all the other nurses applying... you never know. Just give your best try!
