Labour pain phobia

Dear mommies! I am 39+2 weeks, due on 27th feb, i am severely horrified and scared of labour pain. I am preparing my mind to bear the pains, so I want to picturize the pains in my mind already. Can any body exactly describe me the nature of pain, what kind of pain is it actually??? How it feels like ?? And what do we feel during pain?? Many thanks for answers

Honestly don't work yourself up about it. I've been through it twice and delivered naturally (my baby girl was born last Monday). Yes its painful but just breathe through every contraction and try to keep relaxed/calm. This way you will feel more in control. Everyone's pain threshold is different and if you find the pain too much there are options for effective pain relief through labour.

Just remember the pain is only for about a day of your life, you'll quickly forget it and best of all have a beautiful baby to show for it.

Labour pain is different for everyone myself personally i didnt think it was as painful as i thought it was going to be and i had a completely natural med free birth with a small tear that didnt need stitches..but then i have friends who say it was unbearable.just remember that the second baby is out the pain is gone :)

No good in picturising pain in your mind before going into Labour...visualize calmness and that is much better way of dealing with it...

My pain was like very intense menstrual pains and later there was a lot of pressure on my bottom.  Do not get too worked up about the pain.  Your body is made for this.  I went in expecting an epidural right away, but was unable to get one until 19 hours in.  My epidural did not work, but it was all okay.  Changing positions, whirlpool tub, pregnancy ball, walking, back massage, and focus on your baby.  Don't be afraid...I am a very anxious and scared person...and it was okay.  Just let it happen.  Your hormones will kick in and help.  You can do it!

Lovely, have u not had any Braxton hicks? My ob describes those as the pre cursor, so however you go with those is the best indicator of how you'll go with birth. Have you noticed that your pain threshold has increased? Mine has jumped considerably. Also, don't forget u can drug all the way up. Gas spinal or epidural. Don't stress, bubs will come and the pain will fade away

BH contractions r painless.  They don't count.  When u feel menstrual like pains that keep coming in intervals them ull know that labor is starting.  I just had my second baby and my first labor was 12 hrs and second labor 28 hrs.  I knew labor was starting for me during my second labor, but not my first.  How would I know?  All I knew was the "pains" - which were very tolerable - were not anything I've experienced throughout my whole pregnancy.  U will be able to sleep through the first part of early labor.  They contractions will be far apart and gradually get stronger and closer together.  I was in active labor at home for both of my pregnancies before I went to the hospital because I was expecting knife stabbing pain.  Nope it was nothing like that.  Just imagine really bad menstrual cramps if u've ever had them.  Sometimes menstrual cramps r accompanied by lower back pain and sometimes not.  For me for both labors I only had lower abdominal menstrual cramps that gradually got stronger.  My pain threshold is pretty high apparently, cuz I went to the hospital dilated to 5cms with my first, and with my second I was dilated to 8-9cms by the time I got to the hospital.  My contractions never got closer than 4-8 mins apart for an hour for my second before I decided to just go to the hospital.  The pains at that point were really strong and I couldn't take it anymore.  So, labor pains I'm gonna say are bearable.  Don't be scared, just make sure u get the epidural if u don't want to feel the full brunt of "labor".  I hope this helps!  Goodluck!!

Relax, take a deep breath. Your body was made to do this. Find/make a place in your mind that let's you feel completely at peace. Practice taking deep breaths, do not fight your body. Move around, motion will help keep your labor progressing and let your pelvis adjust more quickly. The pain is different for everyone,  I think most moms will agree that when you think you can't take any more, you are a tree most done. Good luck.

Rule 1...dont listen to the horror stories.
Rule 2....dont listen to the horror stories lol. Seriously ur made to do this girl and afterwards u will feel likw super woman with a baby in your arms. As soon as labour is over the pain is gone and trust me that u will forget it straight away because the love takes over. Its an experience you will never ever forget....this is my 3rd and trust me I wouldnt be going back for more if it was that bad.

Thankyou so much mommies, the impression I have got is that everyone is so positive, so I think I should not be horrified that much. But whenever I seen ladies screaming in midwives television programme , my whole confidence shakes badly.. :-(( yea but i am and i will try my best to think very positive till it starts..
