As a personal trainer and more importantly - daddy to be - eat bananas, take in more calcium and eat some of those chewable gas pills.. The ones for heartburn. The missus had bad leg cramps until I had her eat those pills.. they went away completely.

If you're far along, it could be that your muscles are getting tired due to extra weight your legs are supporting. I'm 39wks3days & for abt 2wks, I'm either getting those horrible Charley horse cramps, or fight them off just before they really cramp. I've read that it doesn't always mean your potassium is low (although eating bananas doesn't hurt anything lol), but haven't heard about calcium. Hydration helps your muscles work properly anyways, so hydration is important, cramps or not. Not sure you should be overly concerned, though. :)

You can also try flexing your toes and just stretching your foot. It's what's been helping me to relieve the cramps quickly.

I too found taking calcium helps a ton! I take mine at night with dinner and that seems to work best.

Agree stay hydrated. Could also be due to low calcium. Baby takes a lot of calcium from you to build it's bones, overnight when your body regenerates it takes calcium from your bones to replenish what baby is taking from your supply. I had the same issue, Charlie horse every night for weeks till I decided to finally mention if to my dr. He told he to take calcium pills which helped tremendously. Good luck

It is very normal in pregnancy. Try to stay hydrated and stay active. Also, you may ask your Dr to test your potassium. It could be low. Eat some bananas see if that helps.
