"gh" at the end of a word the "g" is silent, but that is not the case if a vowel follows the "gh".
Pretty much everyone would look at leigha and say lee-Gah or lay-Gah, because grammatically and phonetically that is the correct way to pronounce it.
If you want to go with "unique" spellings you have to consider phonics and grammar. Otherwise you doom you child to a lifetime of having to correct everyone who reads their name, or you get the "i'm not sure if i'm saying this right...." I have a high school friend name pronouced May but spelled Mai. Every teacher would say My when the read her name, as that is the correct way to read it. I do have another Mai friend, pronounced My - she has no trouble.
I think it's nice and different xx
My middle name is Leigh... I love it!! Nobody has ever pronounced my name wrong. Its super cute and unique. I hate common names. The spelling makes it special
It's one of those names, I wouldn't know how to pronounce until told. If you tell me you're name is Leah, that's how I would spell it.
The name sounds lovely ... go for it!
Im very familiar with "lee" Leigh or Ashleigh, just when the "a" is at the end, i automatically go to pronounce it as Lee-Gha.
It is just one of the ways the English language is screwy. Leigh is lay when it is in sleigh
The reason i chose that specific spelling is because My middle name is Leigh pronounced (lee) which Leigh is very commonly known as the feminine way to spell lee. And when I seen the name Leah could be spelled as Leigha I personally loved it, it's different and pretty
That's my baby name. Spelled different.. and i changed her middle name from Marie to something else.. i say go for it.
That's very pretty. Although I will be honest, I initially read it as (lay-uh).
I'm really not crazy about that spelling. I think lea or Leia is better
The names are great together!
Ppl may not kno how to pronounce it but I like it. Its unique but not crazy I think its cute.
