Lunch meat

I'm curious how many moms out there ate lunch meat while pregnant. Everything I've read says not to, but sandwiches are pretty much my favorite thing,  so I'm just wondering if this is an actual risk or not. Let me know! Thanks ladies!

I'm 35 wks and I've had a few turkey sandwiches here and there..always used fresh sliced lunchmeat though, nothing that has been sitting in a bag in a fridge

Cold lunch meat can grow listeria (I think that's the one) which can cause problems for the baby. It's not recommended to eat cold lunch meat in an effort to avoid getting the bacteria but I'mssure it's like most other things, some doctors will say it's ok in moderation, other will say to heat it up first to kill any bacteria and still others will say avoid it all together. I would suggest that you contact your doctor and do your own research and form your own opinion based on what you feel is right for you.

I was also told no lunch meat. But I just make sure to get quality meats and eat at reputable places. And I try to only eat sandwiches once a week or so.

I was never told not to eat cold meats.... never heard of that. The doctor told me no microwave meals or shell fish and also to make sure eggs where we'll cooked along with fish.  But as for cold meats they're fine.

I have one once in a while but not often and my doctor said to get it freshly cut not the ones that sit in the case for a while because the bacteria can harm the baby. Most people will probably be fine eating lunch meat but there is a chance that it can harm the baby so why take the chance.
