Med free birth and induction?!?!

I wanna hear some success stories from you ladies who have been induced but still were able to deliver without an epidural or pain meds.... I always planned on going natural, letting my body do what it's supposed to, go into labor on my own and deliver without pain meds. Those plans changed today. Due to elevated BP and protein in my urine there is a pretty good chance I will be induced on Monday (which is my exact due date). I know a lot of women say being induced makes contractions worse so I just wanna hear that its totally possible to still deliver without pain meds (I know its physically possible, it's the mental hurdle that I'm stuck on).

I was considering trying to induce on my own a little, but no castor oil. Laxatives don't sit well with me so I know that will end poorly for me. Lol I am not sure what midwives brew is? The thing is I also do not know how dilated or effaced I am. I haven't been checked since 35 weeks.

I wonder if you could take the midwives brew to naturally induce your labor before Monday?

I have a friend of mine that did it. Induction with no pain meds. She said that it felt like the worst menstrual cramps ever, but she was also one of those women that get really bad cramps anyways. She said that was one of the reasons she felt she was able to do it without pain meds because it was only about twice as bad as the cramps she would get with her period.

Thank you imaslice! I expect it will be awful, but its very nice to hear from someone who's done it. My husband and I have been practicing breathing techniques and massage (he's actually a really good coach, I wasn't sure he would be) and I asked them (my drs) today about laboring in the shower and they are totally for it.

I had my first with pitocin and no pain meds or epideral. It can be done. I'm not going to lie, the pain is awful. But once the baby comes out, it's all over. See if you can try some natural pain reliving techniques like massage, shower or bath, heating pads, TENS unit. That might be enough to get you through. Try and stay focused, you can do it.

AmyLilyCaytee, thank you! I am not opposed to them and will definitely be taking them if I need them. I guess it's just tough because I had been preparing for things and suddenly a wrench is thrown in. I was prepared for the possibility that once in labor something may happen that would change my plans, but wasn't planning on being induced at all, especially cuz my Dr doesn't like to induce unless necessary.

It is possible but don't have the mind set that the drugs are bad. Sometimes they are a life saver. I had the gas with my first daughter and thank god I did because I was praying for someone to stab me the pain was that intense! It all depends on your pain threshold and the intensity of your contractions. And also if you have any complications.  Good luck!

I had no meds when I delivered my babies. With all 3 of my kids I natural births but at the same time I didn't feel my contractions. I guess I was one of the lucky ones. I'm currently pregnant with my 4th and I'm hoping for the same. I plan on having a natural birth without any meds.
