My baby might have down syndrome

I had my genetic testing done at 10 weeks everything came back negative baby was GREAT! Then went in for my 13 week NT(nuchal translucency) ultrasound and a couple days later my Dr called me telling me my baby showed some thickness around he/she neck and I need to go see a specialist because it's a sign of down syndrome. I'm devastated.. I know having a child with any disabilities is a blessing but let's be honest nobody wants to get this news we hope for a perfectly healthy child.. Any Mommy's been through this and their babies turned out fine???

Called and found out baby's NT scan was 7mm.. Devastated all over again. From what I've been reading everyone who ended up with their baby being okay had a NT scan much smaller. With my baby the chances are very slim.

Yea, you should definetly find out. The docs usually say by 16-18 week, the NT can go down. Which it did for my case, so hope same happens with your baby. Thanks for the well wishes

Yes, I actually went through this. I had my first ultrasound 11weeks 5 days and doc told me baby had NT of 3.0mm which is the borderline for normal and told us our baby could have Down syndrome. So then, we had blood tests done and it all came back negative. Also, had the echo cardio to check baby's heart and doc said baby looks good. The genetic counselor kept on asking us if we wanted to do the CVS and the amnio done. But we refused it, since we had the 16 week ultrasound and baby had NT of 2.6 mm, which is normal. I am praying baby come out healthy. I am due Sept 1,2017. Wish you all the best!

I wish I could remember what size my baby's NT was I'm going to call tomorrow to see. Hopefully mine was low like yours and yeah I'm not doing the CVS I heard it's more of a risk but the amnio is less so I'm considering it but only if my baby continues to show a thick NT. Thank you tho!! And same to you praying for your lil one hopefully we both get happy outcomes

My Little sister had this and she turned out to not have downs. She's 11 and a firecracker. Remember, these are just markers for downs, not 100% accurate. Good luck momma!

With my first I had the scan/bloods done at 12 weeks. His nuchal fold was bigger than they like to see but still within the range. So that combined with my bloods gave us a 1 in 21 chance of ds. Went on to have the Harmony test and all came back low risk. My son is now 2 and absolutely perfect. His neck was thick when he was born but he has the same body as his Dad (stocky). Thinking of you.
