I was induced with both of my girls....no epidural for either. I did give in to pain meds bc the petosin for my 2nd daughter was hell. I did a lot of humming and swaying. Everyone knew to leave me alone while in contractions and I was able to think through most of them. I am planning the same with my little boy but he has decided to go breech...here's hoping for him to flip soon (I'm 32 weeks).

Completely agree with heat packs! Also look up "counter pressure" totally helps with back labor if someone at your birth knows how to do it. Move around as much as you can, laboring on the toilet for a couple contractions always speeds things up for me. Also thinking "relaxed face =relaxed cervix" really helped me to stop clenching and tightening my body through contractions. Accepting the pain and telling myself over and over that pain is good. Ha-ha, these all sound crazy now, but they really helped me through my last two. And lastly, be as loud as you want. Don't be ashamed to vocalize your contractions, just go as low as you possibly can in your tones. That really helped me to stay focused and not get too hysterical when it was really painful. If you get high, it's easy to start screaming and lose control. Keep it low :) ☺ all the best!

Thank you all for your kind and encouraging words. It's nice to hear some positivity as opposed to the usual "good luck" response

I wish I was able to deal with pain but I couldn't I felt the pain of contraction thru every joint in my body. I wanted to deal with it but I just couldn't. I tried though becuz epidural messed me up the first time with my 8yr old and with this current child who is 1 week old. I suffer with backaches abd headaches. I hope u are able to tolerate ur pain so u would have to deal with it.

I used heating pads for my back and mostly just breathed and moved around. You never know what you need until you go through it. But you can do it we've been doing it for millions of years. You got this.and being on your back can make it more painful.

I just went with it. I think it's all in your ability to control pain in your mind. I've been told I have a high pain tolerance but I don't let myself give in to the pain. I kind of ignore it,  take deep breaths and think of something else. My thing is if you don't mind it don't matter. I think the only time I really felt the pain was the ring of fire but that part is quick.

I have had natural with 2 of my 4 kids. The hospital that I go to had hot tubs to sit in. That was the best way for me to deal with the pain.

I had my first child without an epidural. I read the book Natural Childbirth the Bradley Way. It has multiple pain management techniques. I had terrible back labor. My mom bought a microwaveable heating pad to the hospital. It was a life saver. When I wasn't using the heating pad my mom or husband massaged my lower back. I had an awesome nurse that helped me through labor. I have witnessed an epidural and am terrified of the needle. I went into saying an epidural is not an option. I did not want it offered. I won't tell you it's easy but I will say you can do it. Best of luck and congratulations.
