Mucus Plug

So I am 36 weeks pregnant, and have been having alot of contractions as well as Braxton hicks, but recently I have started to lose what I think is my mucus plug. Sorry for the over detailed description, but it is a greenish snot like discharge, once in a day, and yesterday twice. Does anyone know how much time it takes to fully lose the mucus plug, or if that means the baby is coming sooner? How long after losing the mucus plug will it take for this baby to come?
