My job

So I work at a juvenile prison where staff can possibly be assaulted at any time. I'm 6 weeks today and I was wondering what you future parents think. I can't get another job that pays this much and I need to benefits. Should the youth know that I am pregnant? On one hand most of them know they would catch any extra charge for assaulting me, but on the other hand I wouldn't want any youth to hit me in my stomach or abdomen on purpose. I do work in a safer area as opposed to some of the other areas on our premises, but I can't help but worry about it.

Definitely let the people at your job know.  Maybe you can be were you won't deal with the juveniles. Regardless try to find another safer job for your baby's safety and yours. God bless

I think your job should know but not the youth because some of them may not be sympathetic to that as you mentioned and use that against you.

Can you move into an admin position or a roll that isn't working in the sections with the kids?

Ask your doctor for. Light duty note. With your position it'd the safest way to go. I work in a probation home and we have to restrain clients. My job description is to be able to loft 50 pds dead weight be able to stand up to 12 hrs at and time. Be able to restrain clients without hurting yourself or the client. So basiclly my doctor put me on light duty.

They should put you on light duty. And once you have the baby you can go back to full duty. My husband is an officer in a jail.

I'm I would think about finding something that would protect your belly I mean your baby is pretty safe I have a one and a two year old who are very rough and my doctor says don't worry because the baby is so well protected but I would say talk to your doctor and see what they say because you wanna keep your baby safe.
