Eye color is a simple blue vs Brown gene. Hair colour is determined by many genes. Which is why red hair can pop up after multiple generations - happened with my nephew.
My cousin is half African American, her husband is white, Brown hair brown eye (but his sister is blond). My cousin's daughter has stick straight blond hair and blue eyes, she its now 8- no sign of her hair getting darker.
Hair can also change at puberty, another cousin went from thin stright hair to a Jew-fro

There is a chance of blonde hair believe me I know I am the only one out of five kids that has dark brown it faded from black to brown my dads hair did same thing as mine when he was a baby me and me dad both have hazel eyes too  my older sister and all three younger brothers are natural blondes with blue eyes since birth  just like my mom is so I guess the recessive gene won out 4 out of five times in my family lol

I was born with dark black hair and my husband had dark hair as well.. Our first son came out blonde. And still is... Our second son came out with rich dark almost black hair and is now a little lighter brown color. I'm pregnant with son #3 and cannot wait to see what he looks like. My first two looked identical to each other even though they were 11 months apart and had different hair colors.. Now my first looks just like his daddy and my second looks just like me.

If you are carring the rececive gene then absolutly your baby can come out blonde.  The fact that you even have brown hair indicates that mostly likely you are caring the recessive gene .  Draw out a simple punett square for your mother in law and you can show her there is 50% chance baby will be blonde with light eyes.

Blonde hair and blue ares are both recessive. I am the only one in my family (living) that has these genes. My first born has dark features like her father, black hair and dark brown eyes. My second child has light brown hair and had blue eyes for about a year, now they are hazel and will change between green and brown with her mood and what she is wearing. Currently pregnant with #3 and can't wait to see what features she will get.

Genetics are tricky!I'm no specialist but I have seen some weird craps happen. My mother was blonde hair blue eyes baby, she is now dark hair blue eyes. My dad is black and my sister and I have darker features like our father. My son Sandy Brown hair hazel eyes and his father is black. I am not sure if that came from my mother or not but genetics is like a box of chocolates ...  You never know what ur gonna get.. lol

My MIL is saying my baby will be just like my husband. It irritates me bcus if I say "she has my nose" then his mom is like "his nose was like that when he was born" it irritates me bcus she's half me too but his mom seems to think I'm only carrying her and had no genetic help in making my own child. It all comes down to genetics so I would just ignore what she says and enjoy your baby no matter what or who they look like.

I actually had to do all sorts of genetic stuff in college, and one thing I can say for certain is it's not just the father & mother that determine the genes.. your parents AND his parents also contribute.. sooo it all depends.

a lot of babies do have blonde hair in the beginning though, my fiancé did as well, but it's more of a brown tint now.. definitely not blonde. it's just like blue eyes.. a lot of babies are born with blue eyes, but they change. luckily mine stuck.. I'm cherokee/native american & everyone swore I'd have dark brown eyes like the ENTIRE SIDE of my daddy's family, but NOPE.. I got my blue eyes from my mama!! ((((:

Totally depends!  I have 4 kids half Mexican and half Italian.  First 3 had thick black curly hair when born. Two with green eyes and one with grey. Then my last one came out with strawberry blonde hair and bright blue eyes. If I didn't see him come out I wouldn't have believed he was mine. I always joke that my husband must have cheated on me. We're taking bets now on this ones hair color.

My mom was blond hair blue eyes and my dad has black hair and dark brown eyes. I came out with light brown hair and hazel eyes, go figure lol just gonna have to wait and see when baby is born. But blond hair is a recessive gene but it's still possible.

Depends on the genes....my son is identical to my husband...I'm talking right down to light hair blue eyes...to same one freckle in the same spot on their leg!

I think it's like 1 in 3 chances of having blonde hair or blue eyes when they are present on both sides of the gene pool. ...but 90% if you have different hair and eye color from your partner the dominate gene will win out which is most likely your hair and eye color!

It's possible.  I have dark brown hair and hazel eyes while my husband has black hair and brown eyes. My daughter is a dirty blonde and has bright blue eyes.

Blond hair is a recessive gene. I was blond for the first few months of my life but turned dark like the rest of my family. The first couple of years you actually can't count on to tell bc as they get older their coloring will change. That being said though, unless his entire family is blond you'll probably end up with a dark haored baby bc brown is the dominant gene. Sometimes the recessive genes win out so it COULD happen.... but probably won't.
