Hand foot and mouth disease shouldn't effect you too much during pregnancy. It can make you very uncomfortable but poses little risk to baby especially further along in the pregnancy. Your nephew would've been most contagious during a time with fever. It is mostly a childhood illness, but I've seen teens and adults with it and its very uncomfortable as you get older.

Two of my kids had this recently as it was going around very bad.. And my kids are not even in daycare they got it from their cousin .. It's highly contagious but the good news is it's not something an adult usually gets BUT they can.. More of a childhood virus.,. My kids Dr also told me that they only worry about hand foot and mouth in pregnant women who are in their first trimester.. Of course you should let your doctor know you may have been exposed, mostly for your peace of mind

Yeah, like the lady above said, I'd let your dr know if you've been exposed to it as it is an infectious disease. Its really common in day care centres here among toddlers. I think they're at their most contagious when they have the blisters.
