ultrasounds...

I'm 34 weeks today and have an appointment a week from Wednesday. My doctor wants to do one more routine ultrasound, but I have family members and friends pressuring me to opt out of it because "ultrasounds aren't safe for the baby." I have done some research, and most studies say that there has been no evidence of harm caused by ultrasounds because its done with radio waves, which are generally harmless. I have had a very low risk, easy pregnancy with no complications two I know there really is no NEED for anbultrasound this late in the game, but even though I know its selfish, I want that last glimpse of my boy before I get to meet him in a few weeks. At the same time, I don't want to do anything that might harm my child & I've already had 3 ultrasounds. What are your thoughts?

It is normal depending on where you live to get ultrasounds in the last few weeks. This is my third pregnancy and I went for one at almost 35 weeks. they like to check the fluid levels as well as babys size and position!! Good luck with everything.

I agree with the others,  it's fine. There are some women with high risk pregnancies who have ultrasounds every couple weeks through out their entire pregnancy and everything is fine.

That's my thinking too-and I may just fib a little & tell them I didn't have it. Ultimately its our baby & our decision & its not like I'm uninformed. I research everything like crazy so there are as few surprises nor mixups as possible!!

I personally think it's fine, but you will always have people on the other side. My Dr has been practicing for 30+ years and does an ultrasound every 4 weeks if the insurance is good (some have cost restrictions). The research doesn't show any negative effects and I feel like the information you gather from them is priceless. You and your Dr can be sure things are ok and to me, that's what I want.
