switching doctors half way through pregnancy?

Has anyone ever switched doctors mid way through pregnancy?  Im 30 weeks and a new hospital just opened up next to me but, my obgyn is now telling me that he will not be delivering there only another hospital 30minutes away. Has anyone changed doctors?  What was you experience like?

Yes had to switch at 20 weeks. My first OB/GYN left unexpectantly. I did some research to pick my 2nd. He recieved a copy of my records and we discussed them thoroughly at my first appt. Has been great since.

My hospital is about 25-30 minutes away as well its in a different city. unless you don't have transportation or are worried about ambulance fees it really would not make sense to switch doctors so late because of location. A lot of
doctors probably wouldn't be registered to practice there since it is so new and you'd probably see their on call obgyn/midwife if they have one.
