Please no bashing #Marijuana

I am 33 week's pregnant with my 3rd child. I am completely miserable by now.  I have had Polyhydraminos with all three pregnancies. Only the first was caused by gestational diabetes. This pregnancy, &* my last had/have no explanation. My fluid level as of now is 32. That with the fact that he has settled down,  my hips &* back are causing extreme pain. The baby boy I am carrying now is perfectly healthy, far as we can tell. This pregnancy has gone by with no complications. I have always battled with depression, &* bipolar disorder.  I am very against medication in general (unless needed) while I'm not pregnant;  even more so during! I have battled morning sickness, &* nausea the whole time. There for I never have an appetite. Insomnia has been a problem from the beginning with the pregnancy, &* has increased the further along I am. * The only thing that helps is the occasional joint. I have been a marijuana smoker for well into 10 year's. Please no bashing; I have done an extreme amount of research. Marijuana is being legalized across the world. I see no harm at all from this plant in any form that it is used! I consider it a miracle plant. The benefits of it help tremendously in so many circumstances.  Not only with humans. Soif you don't kknow what you're talking about skip this question. No ignorance needed. My question is simple.  Do hospitals routinely run drug scans when admitted to labor &* delivery.  The reason I ask is with my first two pregnacies I had stopped smoking by 5 months. Long story short, for many reasons that didn't happen this pregnancy. I'm concerned about hospital policy. I will not risk my child being took, or any DSS involvement. I have stopped by the past week. I didn't realize just how much pain, anxiety, &* stress I would experience. I know if I talk to the Dr all they are going to do is try to prescribe medication. I'm not for that at all. HELP !!!

Drugs alter the mind. This is why people have a problem with it. My sister and mother are huge pot heads. I have never been into that. My sister smoked all though her pregnancy. However, her daughter is extremely slow mentally. I have had issues with pain pills but have found success with natural remedies for issues,  like chiropractic and acupuncture.  These are much safer for the brain health of yourself and baby. Good luck

Don't smoke! I was smoking to relieve my pain but just found out everytime you pee in a cup for your Dr they always checks for drugs and keep record of it and when. The Babys born they drug test Towns will take your baby away not hesitation. Not worth it at all!

change and people wont be so crazed over a plant. I just think it would be expensive to drug test every mom and every new born. I live in az I've always quit the last trimester just incase. I did have a friend who called the hospital n asked.  The hospital said if there is reason to suspect use they will test. Not sure how true that is. I also did some research online and I think these days marijuana use is not their biggest concern. I completely agree with you about the use and hopefully one day things will. Also if you disclosed on any form at your drs that you've ever used this could give them a reason to test. Best bet is to suck it up and quit while you still have time to get clean.

After my first prenatal appointment, I was reading over all the paperwork that my Dr gave me, along with that was a testing schedule on certain test that would be preformed during my pregnancy and the last test on the schedule was a blood test after delivery which consisted of five things in which one was a drug test. I'm in Texas btw.

In my state ny, they do run drug test during labor and delivery.   If you come up positive then they will inform children's services but won't take your kids they will just keep it on file that you tested positive while pregnant.  Which can be used against you if ever there was a custody battle.  That's what my doc told me.  Good luck and I hope that was of some help to you.

I am a mental health therapist and I know that if there are substances in the body, either if you test positive or the baby, there will be child protective services involvement. I can understand the benefits your experiencing from marijuana as far as pain management, but it can also make symptoms of depression and bipolar worse. The substance can also harm your baby, even more so than a prescription being managed by your doctor. I understand if you don't want meds, but there may be other non-medication options that would help you and you might be able to get more information on that through your local mental health agency. The stress, anxiety, and pain could be withdrawal symptoms and continuing the use will only make that worse and worse. I would suggest researching mindfulness as a treatment for what you're going through as well as talking to a therapist about managing your other symptoms. I hope this helps.

Well I mean after baby is born they do always take blood so I do not know if they then test that for drugs but I have never been told I am being drug tested.  I dont know if that helps sorry.  Did you try googling it?

I understand that talking to your doctor can be troublesome. The main reason they don't want you to smoke is because when the baby comes out they can have withdraw symptoms and some can be severe. I am very sorry about you problems and hope that once the pregnancy is complete you can start feeling better but talk to your doctors not all bad.
