Nipple stimulation to induce labor

I was talking with one of my friends who is 2 days before her due date. She said she has been trying nipple stimulation but that she was going to try using her breast pump the next few days to see if that helps. Has anyone else tried this? I am just wondering because I have never heard of using a pump before the baby comes...

I read that stimulating the beast to induce labor naturally sometimes works and when it does it causes severe contraction pains.

You won't run out of colostrum! Women who tandem nurse (or who nurse through most of their pregnancy) have their colostrum come in as a physiological response to labor and delivery. Do be careful with nipple stimulation because it can cause some very strong contractions.

You can use the pump if you have it. The entire point of doing nipple stimulation is to simulate using a pump. That's why they say to pull in and out like a pump. I've been doing it (not with a pump, I don't own one lol) for a few weeks and no results though. Honestly, sex is what helped me. Semen thins out the cervix. I went from 0% effaced to 90% in a few days from it

I had just kind of wondered, I don't plan on doing it but I was curious about it. I have heard of nipple stimulation to help induce labor, but you still leak. I leak with out even trying and I dont think I will run out of colostrum for my baby.

Nipple stimulation is fine, but the baby needs that first milk! It is called colostrum and it has a lot of important nutrients in it. Everything I have read says not to pump or try to express any milk until after the baby has arrived.
