Hormonal exaggeration or legitimate reason to be mad? sorry its long..

So, for black Friday shopping my sister in law took our 4yr old son overnight so my husband and I could get presents for him and his sister without having to do it secretly hiding it from them. Which was nice. We were very grateful. I was going to pick him up after work next day. She calls. Says our son wants to stay overnight again. Not a big deal our 8yr old daughter does this almost every time she stays there. So we're fine. And we have a bit of daughter time.

Well... she calls later and says that "one of the kids" cut a chunk out of my sons hair. The BACK of his hair. He's 4. I don't really see him being able to... he'd more likely go for his bangs or something. I was growing his hair out a little. Not like hippy long but a cute, modern little boy long do. So... she cut the rest of his hair to "even it out"....
Im pissed. Why cut the rest of it!? I mean, let US....his parents decide how to fix it. I would have brought him to a professional to fix it. Now...he seriously has hair like Lloyd Christmas from dumb and dumber.
His bangs are like sooooo straight... then go crooked on one side.
I know it was her kid. Shes 8. The last time I sent my daughter there her kid pitched a fit because my daughter has training bras and little teeny pokey outie booblets. (Its nesecary, trust me. Shes blossoming early) i tried not to make a big deal out of her development because shes so young but she came home upset that her cousin was acting mad at her for it. Told me she never wanted to get older and have boobs. (Sorry kid, mama is a DDD.. you will lol)

Anyway. I kept my cool when I picked him up even though I was SCREAMING on the inside! Its Christmas time.. pictures etc... he has a super ridiculous uneven half bowl cut.

If it happened at my house... I wouldn't cut someone's kids hair. Id tell them and let them decide.
Is that just me? Anyone else?

I know its just hair,it'll grow back. But UGHHHHHH

iys not the same situation but my daughter was about 3 and had the most beautiful long wavy hair and she wanted bangs like mine so I took her to the hair dresser and she looked so sweet like a little doll! but whsn her fated collected her for the day Saturday he took her to the salon and had all of her hair cut up sooo short it looked awful lie a little boy! she has sallow skin and so looked like dora the Explorer! I was so angry and upset at him! also she was very upset! so I definitely feel your pain!
she shoukd have left it up to you as to how you would like to correct it not just hacked off bits of his hair!

Yeah, see. I knew it wasn't just me! Husband seems totally unaffected by it. Which made me feel like I was just being hormonal!

Id be absolutely f**ked off!! My sons hair and the way its brushed effects me deeply. I hate it when people put their hands through his hair! Never mind cutting it!! I would think if one of the kids had cut my sons hair.....at 2 years and 11 months he would tell me who it was. Seems to me she thought she would just cut it regardless and blame one of the kids!! I would be furious and definitely be mentioning to her, hes my son, I make all the decisions from what socks and pants he puts on in the morning to which school he attends so on and so on. He is my soul responsibility and she has no right In The future to make any rash  decisions about my sons life or appearance with out my concent unless it is something which envoles common sense!!!

Yea I would be mad too. But being mad and not saying anything will not prevent a repeat. Guess you should find a way to send a subtle message across that you don't really fancy anyone taking major decision like cutting off your kids hair without your permission. Else you may have a greater problem to contend with next time. Not asking you to start a quarrel but I'd definitely find a way to register my displeasure even playfully a few days after the incident.

My MIL took it upon herself to cut one of my daughter's hair once.  I was SUPER mad because it was her first hair cut.  I told her to not do that again without my permission.  I would be upset too!

I would be pissed too. We've had a lot of issues with our boys, 8 and 6, going to my sisters house. Her boys, 7 and 6, are very sneaky, inappropriate, and are bullies. My sister and her husband are oblivious and when they happen to see something, its a 'knock it off' but there's no consequences. It got to the point where our kids don't go there now unless my husband or I are there to supervise. It ***** cause she's my big sis but I'm not going to keep subjecting my kids to that environment. Maybe for Christmas get him a cute hat he can wear in pics?

Hell no! I'd be pissed too. My husbands aunt cut my daughters bangs this spring. She didn't even cut half an inch off and I was fuming... my daughter will be 3 in january but she was bald and I mean bald for forever! I don't care if she was evening her bangs out she didn't have the hair to cut. You have every right to be mad.

I think she meant well but part of me thinks they thought his hair was too long... decided to cut it then feed me that story.
I asked my son who cut it and all he says is auntie did. Not him, not his cousin.

I'm a barber and a mom and I would be p.o.'d as well.  Its hard enough dealing with it being accidentally cut, but I agree that it should of been disclosed to you and left up to you how its handled (fixed).  I would never cut another child's hair without their parent knowing. Do you think she truly meant well though? And tried to do her own version of damage control to minimize the impact for you?  Its family, you don't want to burn a bridge, I applaud that you bit your tongue. I'm sure it wasn't easy!

I think Im gonna have to let it grow a bit before taking him in. That way it wouldn't be too short.
Im just like...ughhh it looked so cute before! He has a light brown, mousey blonde color. Im so mad

I would be mad if someone did that. You could've taken him to a stylist and gotten it professionally done and it wouldn't be uneven.  Is there any way at all to save it?
