I had contractions with my son starting around 32 weeks i had to go to the hospital 4 times a week until the he was born so they could monitor them and around 34 weeks i stated dialating by the time i was 37 weeks i was already dialated to 4 and my cervix was completely thinned out but that week when i went into labor he gave me a shot to stop it and it happened again the next week my stupid doctor even pushed my son back up bcuz he had dropped down into my pelvic which hurt so incredibly bad :( while they had been monitering me i didn't feel barely any of my contractions but when i went into labor i definitely knew it! Don't be worried you'll know it's time when it's time! Good luck! I hope everything goes smoothly for you!
I am 40 weeks 3 days. Started dialating 4-5 weeks ago
They didn't completely stop but slowed down after a few hours of rest at hospital & lots of fluids. They checked my cervix again which was closed and said i could go home. No meds were given.
Thanks maxeymom!! How far along are you?
You can have contractions and not feel them. I havent felt any but am dialated to 4 and thinned 95%. If they were labor contractions then you would feel them. I also was monitored and it showed me having contractions but i could not feel them. But when it comes to real labor contractions then you will be able to feel them. Dont worry about it when it comes to the real deal you will know.
Did they give you anything to stop them or did they stop on there own? If it stopped on its own most likely it was just Braxton hix contractions
My whole stomach gets hard not just were my baby is, it's funny though he stays so close to my belly I can almost see his outline of how he's laying lol. , some times I get them few times a hour, some times every few hours. Once I got them about every 10 mins and drank a whole bunch water and that seemed to calm them down. You should be able to tell the difference when real labor starts, it will get more painful and won't stop no mater what you do.( laying down, walking,ex) and no your water doesn't always have to break for you to be in labor.
Everyone says ill know but i guess being in the hospital left me a little nervous/scared. Im definitely trying to stay positive!
They just said contractions. Nothing about BH. The contractions were every 2-5 minutes and lasting i think a minute or less. My brain was going a mile a minute so i honestly don't remember how long they were lasting. But they did not hurt or get more severe or any worse. All i felt was a little tightness IF i was touching my belly!
What do your BH feel like & how often do you feel them?
Did they say they were Braxton hix contractions, those are normal and come and go and normally not painful. Your cervix being closed is good. I get Braxton hix all the time since before 20 weeks and I'm 30 weeks now.
I've had the same fear. I was in at 23 weeks but I have a fibroid that's causing pain cuz its gotten so big. What if I don't realize that its not fibroid pain but contractions? What I figure is the sign will be we still have to experience our water breaking. I have a 30 min drive to get to the hospital. Trying tothink positive. Beyond that I'm clueless...and a Ftm.
