Opinions on canned tuna

I want to know people's opinion on eating canned tuna while pregnant. Do you eat it? If so or if not what is your reasoning?

I eat it also as it's super low in mercury and I also eat cod but limit that to about 1 or 2 times a month. This is my second pregnancy and my daughter is perfect as well is my son that I'm 21 weeks with.

I'm apprehensive to buy canned tuna but craving tuna now. I wish I lived closer to my grandmother in AK.. who fishes wild Alaskan tuna every year. Canned tuna is NOT all the same. There's Albacore, White, Light, I'll always pick light tuna in water for the lowest mercury content. And I'll eat it three-times per week. Yum.

I asked my Dr and she said I can have Light Tuna as much as I want as it has less Mercury level. However, I still try to limit my tuna intake at least 1-2 times a week.

Yup,  I was told once or twice a week,  a low mercury fish was fine.

The reason we limit some seafood is mercury. Or fish high in mercury. Can tuna is not one of them. Regular fresh tuna is has more mercury then can tuna. So u should be fine eating can tuna. Now I wouldn't eat any high mercury fish like shark or swordfish etc. N if I would eat fresh tuna I would limit it to once or twice a month. Since it still has some mercury but not as high as swordfish or higher level fish. But can tuna I eat once a week. It's not bad for u just don't over do it. Just in case

My dr sent home a huge packet of stuff when I was about 12 weeks along. One of the packets was what to eat and what not to eat. Its actually recommended to eat canned LIGHT tuna twice a week for the omega 3 benefits. My prenatals as most fo already have the omega 3 in them so I splurge on a tuna melt or 2 maybe once a month or every 3 weeks. I still dont eat it often due to the fact I know there is mercury content, but the omega 3 benefits outweigh that or so they believe. So I just splurge here and there but LIGHT tuna only!!
