Oral health during pregnancy

Hi all,
I’m in the 15th week of my pregnancy. I want to know if, is dentistry safe for pregnant women? I am very particular about my oral health, and I always ensure to visit the dentist at least once in a month. But now since I am pregnant, and this is my first baby, I am not sure if this is safe for my baby. I have heard that it is safe to avoid them during the first trimester and second half of the third? Is this right? I got this information from an article that I read, http://www.pearldentalburlington.com/blog/dental-care-tips/is-dentistry-safe-for-pregnant-women/. So, it is not recommended to visit the dentist even for teeth whitening ? and what else can I do to ensure if my teeth are healthy during this period?

It's very important to keep regular dental cleanings i.e. Every 6 months or 3 if you start to have bleeding gums. The pregnancy hormones can cause what they call pregnancy gingivitis.

You can also have basic work done like fillings but ONLY with special numbing meds.  And IF you need an x-ranks sure to have them double cover your belly and only take what is absolutely nessisary.

The whole part about third trimester is mainly because it's hard for us to safely lay back but if your office can do it with you sitting up or has a chair you can lay on your side it's perfectly fine.
